Talk about making an entrance! We have a feeling that Kelsey + Chris are the sort of couple where you just can’t wait for the wedding because you HAVE TO KNOW what they’re going to wear. You wait (not-so-patiently) at the edge of your seat and then something catches your eye…a pair of Gold. Spiked. Shoes. And that’s when you know: this is going to be good.
Bold style aside, K + C actually had one priority—to keep their friends + family close on a day so incredibly special to them! Here’s what Kelsey had to say:
We made sure to keep our wedding more about us and less about the traditional to-do list. Our ceremony highlighted that perfectly: the circular formation kept us surrounded by loved ones while opting out of choosing a wedding party. We knew that no matter how the planning and details unfolded on our day, we were just there for one another.
Shoessss. (You bet we found them—and they’re on sale!)
The Story Behind the Dress
God Bless Leanne Marshall. I’ve followed her work via The Sentimentalist (a designer + vintage bridal shop in Atlanta) for a handful of years and everything she makes is breathtaking. After sampling a few gowns, I went back for a Leanne Marshall trunk show and the second I put on that skirt, I was in love. As a colorist, seeing the Autumn Gold pieces together with my hair and skin tone really sealed the deal. Rachel at The Sentimentalist knew exactly how to piece the bodice and lace overlay together just perfectly to craft the gown for me. My mom’s wedding dress featured a full lace sleeve, so I enjoyed having that same element.
Kelsey knew that Chris had plans to wear a suede burgundy blazer so it was magic to see the combination together for the first time!
Gather Round for a Circle Ceremony
K + C knew they wanted a circular ceremony and The Piedmont Room offered the perfect space for their vision.
The sweetest floral accents by Southern Stems completed the circle!
Kelsey: Our vows. We both put a lot of thought into making them perfect and seeing how much they mirrored without us knowing was very sweet.
Chris: When I saw that dress.
Processional: Hold You In My Arms by Ray LaMontagne
Recessional: Dang! By Mac Miller ft. Anderson Paak
First Dance: Angel by Anita Baker (for Chris' late mother)
The best group photo!
Newlyweds Meet Streetwear
What did Kelsey think of those gold-spiked smoking slippers?
Chris’ shoes by Asher Green were a calculated risk that turned into the talk of the day. Best decision ever.
Let your wedding day reflect your personal styles. Weddings are monotonous otherwise.
Don’t skimp on a day-of coordinator. They are your saving grace on the big day! You’ll never regret splurging on amazing vendors. I had a full meltdown seeing our sneak peek photos on our honeymoon. My make-up artist Sylvia York and my stylist Lauren Stirzaker both KILLED IT! And to top it all off with Sarah Joy behind the camera, how could you go wrong?!?
Totally feeling this!! All our congrats to Kelsey + Chris and thanks for sharing your lovely day!
