Some places just have a hold on your heart, and for us, this one always will. Welcome to our Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort review — a firsthand look at why we keep returning to this dreamy, design-forward paradise in Wailea.
We first stayed at Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort back in 2013 when it just opened (yes, OG Andaz fans over here), returned a decade later in 2023, and most recently spent our 2024 spring break soaking in all the sunshine, sea breezes, and serious relaxation this incredible Maui resort has to offer.
Spoiler: it’s still just as magical.
Why We Love Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort
Whether you’re heading to Maui for a romantic escape, a honeymoon, or a family getaway, this Andaz Maui review is proof that the resort nails that blend of laid-back luxury and island adventure. We’ve made so many memories here over the years, and each visit somehow tops the last.

Beach Mornings + Poolside Afternoons = Perfection
Most mornings we started at the beach, where we lounged, swam, and paddle boarded in the calm, turquoise water. One morning, we signed up for the outrigger canoe experience — and it was such a beautiful way to connect with Hawaiian culture and see the coastline from a new perspective. Total highlight.
GWS TIP: As soon as you arrive at Andaz Maui, be sure to book your activities for the week! Some fill up fast. All the activities are included in your resort fee – no extra fees here, which I LOVE. These activities include the outrigger canoe, paddleboarding, kayaking, snorkeling, lei making, hula lessons and more!
Afternoons were all about pool hopping (because yes, there are multiple gorgeous pools here). Whether we were lounging with drinks in hand or watching our girls splash and play, it felt like the perfect balance of family-friendly and luxe. I also had time to finish my most recent book – love lounging by a pool and reading a good book!

Breakfast Dreams + a Dinner to Remember
Let’s talk food. One thing every Andaz Maui review should mention? The breakfast buffet — it’s next-level. From fresh island fruit to pastries, pancakes, and made-to-order eggs, it’s a feast worth waking up for (even in full vacation mode). My girls love it, and I love that I can start my day with green juice, lots of fruit, coffee, and banana bread. Seriously — their banana bread might be the best in Maui.

Dinner at Ka’ana Kitchen is also a must. During our latest stay, we had a memorable meal with standouts like the Watermelon Salad with big island feta, the Wagyu Hanger steak with green papaya, and the Ahi Tataki with burrata. Oh — and the dessert? A popcorn cheesecake. Yes, really. Caramelized popcorn + dulce de leche ganache + salted shortbread = unforgettable.
Kid-Approved Maui Magic
One of the highlights in our Andaz Maui review is how beautifully this resort blends grown-up elegance with fun, thoughtful programming for kids. Our daughters (ages 8 and 12) absolutely loved the art class where you learn the art technique of their in-house artist Welzie. They also have art classes for kids and adults – we met a couple who painted a picture of them on their honeymoon – such a sweet souvenir from your trip!! Note, there is an extra fee for this, but totally worth it! The artwork you create is really amazing and a unique souvenir from your trip. I wish more hotels had this!

We also did a lei-making workshop, which was such a sweet way to immerse ourselves in local tradition.
Walkable Location + Sunset Vibes

And when we needed a little snack break, we walked over to The Shops at Wailea — just a short stroll away — for a delicious acai bowl or island latte at Island Vintage Coffee. And don’t miss the matcha from Maui Matcha if you are a Matcha fan!
Need a mid-day snack or caffeine fix? We loved strolling to The Shops at Wailea, where we grabbed acai bowls and lattes at Island Vintage Coffee. Also worth a stop? Maui Matcha — their iced matcha is so good on a warm island day. Definitely try their Ube Matcha — so unique and delicious!
And the sunsets? Pure magic. Just steps from your room, the beach at Andaz Maui becomes golden hour perfection every single night.

Final Thoughts: Is Andaz Maui Worth It?
After three unforgettable stays over the past decade, here’s our honest Andaz Maui review: It’s absolutely worth it. This is one of the best resorts in Maui — hands down. From the stylish design and incredible food to the beachfront location and cultural experiences, it’s the total package.
