This year we’ve had the pleasure, together with Poppy + Mint Floral Company, of bringing you a series of editorials focused purely on blooms — a Year of Flowers. We hope you’ve found inspiration for your wedding month, event, or even birthday, and learned a bit along the way! We’re closing out the series with a grand holiday finale…the poinsettia!
The poinsettia has long been associated with the Christmas season and truly look best in December. However, the poinsettia is actually a shrub! The “flower” we see is a group of modified leaves that have changed color—to brilliant red, cream, peach, pink, and sometimes even a combination of colors in a marbled or speckled pattern.
Lens Of Ren captured the holiday cheer in full bloom!
The team gathered at Tiger Branch Tree Farm in Louisiana for a countryside Christmas-themed day.
So festive + bright! This idea would make such a fun entrance—or maybe even a backdrop?
So, do you pronounce it “poinsett-uh” or “poinsett-ee-uh”? It seems to differ based on the region you live, but we do know that “poinsettia” was the name given for Joel Roberts Poinsett, botanist and ambassador to Mexico, who first brought them to the States in 1828.
Have you ever seen a bride carry a bouquet of poinsettias? We LOVE it!
And that’s a wrap! Many thanks to Poppy + Mint Floral Company for all the creativity and vision it took to bring the Year of Flowers series to life!
