Today we have a wedding all the way from Botswana, Africa to share! I just love that couples all over the world are reading Green Wedding Shoes to find inspiration and are willing to share their story. :) Both Sarah + Andre love being outdoors and nature is a big inspiration to them, so it wasn’t a hard decision to get married outdoors. Sarah’s father’s home (where she grew up) was the perfect location and having her wedding in such a personal location made it extra special. It was also really important to them that their day was about them and their friends + family. Thanks so much to Kyle Hale who was the photographer + traveled all the way from Atlanta to Botswana to photograph their day!
Love the invitations that Sarah designed!
WOW. Can’t believe that is her father’s backyard! So lucky…
Most memorable moment of your wedding day? Stepping out the car and seeing that all my ideas had been fully appreciated by family and friends who had put it all together. Of course walking down the aisle with my father to Andre. My father always makes me laugh and I knew that there would be no tears only laughter. My jaw was so sore the next day from smiling so much. Our ceremony was truly special, especially considering one of my parent’s closest friends, Rita was the officiant.
What song did you walk down the aisle to? I walked down to Fireflies by Owl City (when Andre and I first met, this song had just been released and wherever I went it felt like it was always playing). We exited to ‘All I want is you’, by Barry Louis Polisar.
Any advice for those planning now? Be true to you. Enjoy it. Step back occasionally and digest it all. Don’t forget why you are doing it. Don’t lose sight of ‘us.’ And lastly but most importantly let it all go when the day comes and enjoy it because it goes so quickly!
We also want to thank our friends and family who really blew us away with their willingness to help and be a part of it all! And thank you to Kyle Hale who has really touched me with his creative vision of our day, and his kind words!
Congrats to Sarah + Andre!

breathtaking! I am amazed at how stunning, unique and personality filled weddings have become since mine in the late 80’s…

Beautiful and absolutely unique! Amazing photography, too. Really a brighten-my-day kind of post. FABulous!!!
All the best to the happy couple.
So gorgeous. This wedding was simply stunning. I love the hearts hanging with the mason jars from the trees. It’s so nice to see weddings that capture who the couple really is just by a few simple personal decorations.
Just love the feel of this set. It really gives a sense of “being there”.
Ahhh! What a lovely day and on my Birthday too. The bride looks so elegant. xxx
Gorgeous! The whole day looks so peaceful, relaxing and full of love. Congrats Sarah + Andre!
so so beautiful! love what kyle captured!
Simple and sweet. I love the idea of hanging bottles/jars full of flowers from trees!
What Alan said is perfect – I first saw these photos and immediately knew it wasn’t in the US – the photographer captured it perfectly!
I love the how simple and organic this wedding is but it is still so beautiful!
Thanks again for sharing, Jen and thanks for the kind words about my photography.
The wedding was such an honor to photograph and I couldn’t have asked for a more inviting and friendly couple as Sarah and Andre!
