You might remember this adorable couple from their amazing proposalĀ or their wedding teaser film we shared a few months ago, well today is the day to finally share their wedding with all the details from Brit herself! Brit + Dave are both Silicon Valley geeks who grew up in “country western” places (Texas and Montana) and thus their “pixel cowboy” wedding was conceived. In fact, they are so geeky – those were Brit’s words! :)Ā – that they even built their own wedding website complete with Facebook integration so that all their guests could meet and get to know each other before the big event. It was such a hit that Brit has spent the past few months building a version of the site that any bride or groom can use. The new site isĀ Weduary,Ā a more innovative wedding website creator, complete with themes and all kinds of social features for you and your guests. You can sign up to be part of it as soon as it is launched, which should be in early 2012 – can’t wait to see more of that!
DIY was key for this creative couple. Brit has always enjoyed being crafty and had so many ideas for their day. Brit personally hand-crafted almost all of the decor elements in her wedding. The remaining decor was created in collaboration withĀ Jesi Haack Design.
Brit enjoyed planning her wedding so much that she decided to launch her brand new company, BritĀ (which launched today! so congrats to Brit on that!). Itās an online guide full of innovative ways for busy, but inspired people (sounds like GWS readers!) to get creative in and around the home without spending too much time or effort.
Brit did all the bouquets and boutonnieres for her wedding. They are allĀ made of cedar or balsa wood flowers and wrapped with matching pixelated fabric, which she created using Spoonflower. If you’d like to learn how to make these bouquets yourself, check out the bouquet tutorial here.
Sitting with my dad in the front seat of a pick-up truck and watching my girls walk the aisle, knowing that I was seconds away from marrying my dream man.
Tell us a bit about your music!
Procession: Patty Griffin – Heavenly Day (sung acoustic by Margo Valiente)
Recession: The Beatles – All You Need Is Love
Isn’t herĀ Monique Lhullier dress stunning! Love it ā and if you love it also, she is selling it! Contact info at the end of the post on how to reach Brit for those interested.
From Jesi HaackĀ , The most important design element that Brit wanted to go crazy with was our ceiling installation. We hung square paper lanterns in our color scheme then strung LOTS and LOTS of “pixel garlands” in between hung by twine. It was spectacular in person, I wish everyone could have seen it!!Ā The “pixel” initial sign was a fun one too, we made that out of plain cardboard boxes outlined in duck tape! It was a fun illustration guests could see while arriving at the top of the mountain on the gondola!
Though the ceremony at the Chapel of Transfiguration in Grand Teton National Park was quite breathtaking and emotional, the most fun was had at the reception. Guests donned custom cowboy hats that we provided as welcome gifts and were welcomed with “Morinritas” (snow cone margaritas) as they hopped in gondolas taking them to the venue. There, we feasted at food stations from Texas, Montana, and California (places Dave and I have lived), then spent the rest of the night dancing under a pixelated ceiling wearing LED sunglasses (AKA “Party Goggles”) and cowboy boots, and feasting on LED-ice-cubed cocktails.Ā
Instead of a traditional cake, they opted for a Cupcake Idol competition, giving guests the chance to engage their creative juices to create an award-winning cupcake.
In lieu of a guest book, we decided to build a Guest Blog laptop kiosk, where our friends and family digitally posted their love and advice for us so that we can keep it stored online forever.Ā Instead of a bouquet toss (it seemed dangerous to throw my wooden bouquet), we opted for a cowboy boot drinking boat race. (This may have been the highlight of the ENTIRE event! Apart from, um, the vows.)Ā
And here is their amazingĀ wedding film from Elysium ProductionsĀ – I think after watching this you will totally agree, that you need to have a video from your wedding – what an amazing way to remember!
Be authentic with your planning. If the wedding doesnāt feel like you or your groom, it wonāt emotionally connect with your guests. Itās not about the money you spend, itās about how authentically the wedding is planned. Every detail of our wedding ā the techy elements, the creative handmade decor, or the rustic cowboy designs ā was something that was truly reflective of myself and Dave. Use your wedding to tell a story about who you and your fiance are ā your guests wonāt want to stop reading.
Iād be happy to answer any questions you have on wedding apps, advice, or planning. Find me on Twitter at twitter.com/brit or via my new website hellobrit.com.

What a cool wedding! The b & g and all the guests look like they are having such a great time! Love how much of their personalities were incorporated into the details!
Where do I start?! I want the wedding dress, I love the idea of a guest blog and the attention to detail with the ‘pixel theme’ running throughout the wedding is brilliant! Great work by all involved!

ANd what a great way to incorporate their backgrounds and their how-we-met story. Just fabulous. And the “guest book” was a perfect touch. GREAT wedding, GWS! Love this unique post.

Wow! that’s a dream come true wedding. Looks like you guys had nice time.
‘Good grief’ kinda gorgeous.
This wedding is so fantastic, creative, and wonderful. I’ve never seen someone blend geek and cowboy, and she did it so flawlessly and it turned out beautiful and so unique! Bravo!
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE it Brit. Who would have thought that a pixel wedding could look so good. And so you two by the sounds of your jobs! You’ve inspired thousands. :)
P.S. And you’re super duper purty :)
Did ya’ll see the pine cone roses? How did they DIY that? Very cool wedding!
Love this. I am pretty sure that Jesi Haack is a genius. Such a unique and FUN wedding. LOVE
Wow, I love so much about this wedding. I love how individual this was, how much fun, and how beautiful every last detail came together. I can’t get over the wooden pixels, the centerpieces, the digital guest blog, and the fact that traditions were changed to fit the couple (like the lack of a bouquet toss in exchange for a drinking race). I love it and I can’t wait to create something unique with my clients.
Awesome, stunning so elegant… This wedding is really inspirational. Dreamy.
Guest blog! What a great (and original) idea! It made me smile.
Really love the snow cone margaritas ideas! Will be telling the brides from our wedding registry about it because it is summer over here right now.
Words cannot express how much I love this wedding! One of my favorites ever. Great, great job.
Such a cute idea with the pixel theme! Reminds me of that smartphone game with the pixel characters, I will definitely show this blog to the brides who signed up to our online wedding registries.
I absolutely adore this wedding! Anyone with this creativity together is meant to be! I hope this marriage is going strong. I know how stressful a wedding is, I got married in June, and do give you many props on the amazingly cute touches you have added to every part of this wedding! Thank you for sharing your special day with us and allowing future brides to understand that a traditional wedding can sure have character! Love it!
Simply awesome!
Congrats!!
Wow!!!!! I LOve their creativity, personality, graphics, dresses, boots and zillion of personal touches. THIS is what I love about weddings, making them your own and reflecting your style :) KUDOS!
