What do you get when you mix an industrial and modern feel, with a moody blue palette, plus a couple of musicians and have it all set in Seattle? One wildly fun + gorgeous wedding, of course! The story of Erin + Chris is one of the most darling ones that we have ever heard… They met while working at a hospital in Philadelphia — she’s a self-proclaimed goofball nurse who is constantly singing, and he is a sales rep for medical devices. One day, while she was belting tunes during her shift, he overheard her and mentioned that his band was looking for a female singer. A few days later, Erin joined Chris + his bandmates for practice, and ended up having a blast (those bandmates would later become some of her closest friends + be in their wedding)!
Erin shares Chris + I were performing with our band, Bayshore Drive, at a bar in Philadelphia. The last song of our set was “Rude” by the band Magic! and Chris changed the lyrics to, “Can I have your daughter for the rest of my life? Say yes, say yes cause I need to know. Her name is Erin Dowdell and she’s the love of my life, so I’m asking you now, cause I’ve got to know…” and handed the microphone off to my dad, who was sitting in the front row, and he sang “Marry that girl!”. Chris then explained that the bar we were playing at was where we had our first kiss and asked me to marry him!
Isn’t that just the SWEETEST?! Since music has played such a significant part in this couple’s relationship – they wanted to highlight that on their big day. Having never been to the Pacific Northwest, but knowing its reputation for coffee, craft beer and being the home of many famous musicians – they booked Sodo Park for their destination wedding! Opting for an ethereal, earthy feel with a moody blue palette and a vintage industrial aesthetic, this wedding is seriously gorgeous, and Maria Lamb Photography was there to capture all of it!

I was absolutely floored when I saw our ceremony and reception space for the first time... It was such a surreal + awesome feeling of seeing our dream space come together! For the both of us, we were BEYOND surprised when Chris's brothers - both serving as best men - pulled out all of the stops with a killer speech/song performance. They involved our best friends and bandmates - Josh + Matt - to play guitar while they changed the words to one of our favorite songs ("My Name is Jonas" by Weezer).
Kaleb Norman James planned + designed the wedding, and created the florals AND provided all of the tabletop rentals! Erin shares with us FIND YOURSELF A KALEB! Even as a gal who prides herself on her DIY skills, I’m so glad I had someone there to delegate tasks to and made sure I wasn’t overwhelmed. Planning a destination wedding can be tough, and by having an amazing resource like Kaleb, we were able to get phenomenal references to different vendors – all while we were in Philadelphia.
The delicious dessert spread + naked cake were made by The Sweet Side.
