A Modern Elopement in Historic Savannah, Georgia

Savannah Inspiration

College sweethearts, Melissa + Andrew traveled across the USA last summer, from Washington to Savannah, Georgia and fell in love with the city. From the historic architecture of Savannah to the hospitality of the Southern residents, plus the budding and vibrant food scene, they realized that they had found THEIR place. Soon after their trip, Andrew popped the question and they both agreed immediately that they would run way to Savannah to elope. Event planner Tristan Needham, helped them to highlight the character of the city, while also incorporating the couple’s modern style.

The couple shares Melissa is an artist and Andrew is pastry chef, we both like simple + modern styles, but love the unique and historical aspects of Savannah… And since we got engaged shortly after our trip there, it made perfect sense for us to marry there!

Let’s explore the Harper Fowlkes House and see all the gorgeous details, captured by photographer Sarah Ingram.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Keep the centered thought that an elopement is something built to reflect you as a couple while retaining the ultimate intimacy. Without the fanfare and need to please a crowd that comes with a regular wedding, you truly can do just that if you stay committed to it. Scratch what causes stress and doesn't really matter at the end of the day - things you may feel conflict over with hundreds of guests to impress. Also, even though you aren't inviting guests, keep those you love in mind and consider their feelings by doing something personal like an announcement of your elopement thanking them for their presence and influence in your life.
