A California Bohemian-Inspired Wedding in Provence

Rustic French Wedding

After ten years together, Christina + Damien wanted to celebrate their love in the biggest way possible. Heading to the garden of Damien’s childhood home in the South of France, the day was definitely an incredible fete! Christina is a wedding dress designer (Christina Sfez) and having spent so much time in the industry, knew exactly what she wanted: a bohemian sort of feeling, inspired by California of the Seventies. Hues of indigo and ivory were everywhere, along with an abundance of cactus and succulents.

Christina shares We see a marriage as more of a party — an occasion to celebrate love, surrounded by those that mean the most to us. It was only fitting to celebrate this big ‘festival of love’ was in an environment both familiar and intimate: the garden of Damien’s childhood home.

Let’s take a look at all the pretty details, captured by Chloé Lapeyssonnie.

L’Artisan Fleuriste provided all the pretty florals for the day.

For the entrance, Christina + her mother created a curtain of pompoms using different shades of blue wool.

To keep the day relaxed, C+D didn’t have a seating chart; they went with wooden tables and benches to create a picnic feeling. Indigo table runners from Thailand lined the tables, along with a collection of lace, cactus and succulents.

The table settings were intentionally mismatched, but all kept in tones of blue and white.

teepee

Having kids around was really important for us, as they are a part of our lives and the lives of many of our friends. With the help of my sisters, we created a kids corner with a juice bar, some kids tables, a teepee, a few personalized gifts for each child, a giant coloring picture of the U.S.A.

Christina tells us I made my wedding dress only three weeks prior to the wedding day as I wanted to focus on the precious dresses of my other clients before I got started on my own. I had fallen for an entirely embroidered silk tulle, a marvel that was like something pulled from a long lost trunk from the beginning of the century. I therefore used this as my inspiration and base for my dress. I created the dress of my five year old daughter, Margaux, (an unforgettable mother/daughter moment between us), the dresses of my two sisters, as well as the dresses of my two best friends.

The couple opted for a more laid-back dinner and went with an Italian antipasti buffet, followed by wood fired pizza. Since the wedding took place in France, it wouldn’t be complete without a cheese platter, right? Wheels of goat cheese, Parmesan and Brie were brought in from a local cheesemaker.

Doesn’t this three-tier cream sponge naked cake adorned with berries + flowers look scrumptious?
