A Boho Elopement Across the City of Angels

We’re a bit partial to our dear city of Los Angeles, but today’s couple somehow managed to make us fall even more in love! Sam + Emmie hit up some of our favorite spots along their elopement journey, a day-long event that spanned ocean to mountain—and everything in between. These two tattoo’d babes set off to have a rather untraditional day in one of the coolest cities in the world and boy, did they do it right.

Emmie tells us: We weren’t inspired as such by a specific idea – we decided on LA and then everything else seemed to fall into place. It wasn’t just a wedding but a whole crazy LA experience at the same time! That’s what we wanted; to make it such an unforgettable day doing and seeing things we never had before. Even though we eloped and we didn’t have loads of family and friends attending, it was still pretty hectic! We don’t personally know anyone who has had a similar day or experience, which makes the day extra unique and special to us.

S+E asked The Hendrys to capture the day, documentary style. The photos totally tell the story—let’s have a look!

Emmie’s boho style took center stage with the Aurora dress by Spell and the Gypsy paired with some ultra-cool Dolce Vita Skye boots.

The day began at the couple’s laid-back Venice beach bungalow. So cute!!

For a total contrast (and some stellar photo ops), S + E headed east to LA’s Arts District.

The ceremony took place at Griffith Park with sweeping views of the observatory and downtown in the distance.

Jennifer Buchalla gave Emmie those dreamy smokey eyes + loose curls, all topped off by the Delphine crown from Olivia and the Wolf.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

After the wedding ceremony we headed to Mulholland drive, which was close by. From there, you get a great view of LA and this is where we watched the sunset which was such a great experience. It was such a beautiful end to the day that we actually went back up there a couple of days later to watch the sunset again. Our photographers, The Hendrys, managed to tell a great story of our day—when we looked back over the images they look like a mini non-moving film! We feel the photos tell the perfect story of our day which was to show family and friends a taste of what we got up to.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Time is a major one. Things just don’t run to plan in real life. Sam and I actually forgot the wedding rings and had to drive back—luckily we hadn’t already gotten too far! So, always allow a little extra time for things that may not go completely to plan or may take longer. In hindsight, we would have started the day much earlier. Do your research—if you are traveling around a new city like we were, getting a good idea of how long things take is important. Getting around in LA is not always easy, especially with the traffic! If you are eloping I think that choosing your photographers wisely is key, as they are the ones capturing your day and the only other people present with you.

And to finish off the day, Sam got a tattoo on his ring finger! Absolutely perfect. Congrats, you two—you make our city look good!
