This New Mexico Backyard Wedding Had the Dreamiest Terracotta Color Palette!

Colorful boho wedding set in the mountains of Taos, New Mexico

This colorful boho wedding, surrounded by the mountains of Taos, New Mexico is a picture perfect paradise for the newlyweds, Amy and Scott! What’s the best part? It’s in their own backyard! After buying their home in 2020, these two knew it would the perfect backdrop and so meaningful for them to be married on their own land.

Amy and Scott made sure that all of their wedding details were intentional, meaningful, and/or handmade. From the gorgeous New Mexico sky to the show-stopping florals (thanks to Flower Disco) , this wedding is hands down the boho inspo everyone needs!

The day was filled with nothing but meaningful intentional details. From Amy’s handmade wedding dress from Greece, their darling pup as ring bearer, hand-thrown sage bowls as gifts to their guests, and the dreamiest sunset colored florals.

The Perfect Boho Details

We love the floral tie that Scott wore! So perfect for a boho wedding.

GWS Tip: Treat your wedding party to the coziest loungewear or robes on the big day! Your nerves and besties won’t stop thanking you.

Their furry friend had the best job of all, carrying their rings!

You know we love a wedding arch with bold florals! This wedding arch was handmade by the groom himself…more on that soon, keep scrolling!

Our Musical Choices

The Intimate Ceremony

Their ceremony was filled with laughs, tears, and the most meaningful sage smudging, followed by a shower of dried flower petals.

The cherry on top of this intimate ceremony? Their bestie, Lauren, officiated their wedding!

Fits & Florals

Terracotta color palettes are going to be big for 2023 weddings and this squad is showing us how it’s done!

GWS Tip: To add dimension, personal touch, and a bit of spice, ask your bridesmaids to wear different shades of the same color! This allows each bridesmaid to have their own look while staying in the color palette you chose for them.

Let’s Hear it for the Dress!

Shopping for a wedding dress is not always the easiest, but what happens when your dream dress is on the other side of the world?! Amy (like most of us) saw the dress on Instagram, only to discover…the designer was in Greece.

After trying on many dresses that just didn’t feel like me, I decided I had to go to Greece! Scott was unable to travel because of business, so my best friends, Abby and Lauren, stepped up and we had the most magical girl’s trip to Milos. I can’t say enough how amazing the staff at Atelier Zolotas was. They handmade the dress exactly to my measurements and made me feel like a Queen. It couldn’t have been more special!

You can find Amy’s dress at Atelier Zolotas in Argiroupoli, Greece!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Amy - Hearing Scott’s vows and seeing tears in all the guests’ eyes

Scott - Watching their childlike curiosity as our guests interacted with the “Flame Frame"

A Handpicked Reception

Fun Fact: The bride and groom designed the reception seating specifically for their guests! Scott made the tables and Amy picked the rugs! Talk about a seriously cute and touching detail.

“I handpicked every piece of décor and design detail, and Scott hand built the furniture, including a 9-foot heptagon arbor and an 11-foot head table. Every detail had our energy and intention behind it, and best of all, we created it together.

Wedding Favors: Each guest got to take home a handmade ceramic smudge bowl – that was made by the bride’s aunt and uncle – and a smudge stick as their wedding favor. We especially love this detail because as a part of their union ritual to honor the native land and indigenous people of New Mexico, they smudged each other with sage during their ceremony.

Scott put out his collection of typewriters so their loved ones could type out love notes to the newlyweds! All of these intimate and intentional details have us swooning…

Oh! And one more thing, Scott adds his final piece of advice for us;  “Intentionally pause and take mental snapshots of your favorite moments. And remember, you can get out of any conversation by saying, “Where’s my wife?” and walking away.

Thank you for sharing your day with us, Scott & Amy! Congratulations and cheers to your beautiful new life together!
