Kai Lenny and Molly Payne are married! The talented big wave surfer married long-time partner Molly Payne in an intimate elopement ceremony…while Molly is pregnant with twin baby girls! Kai, a Hawaii native, felt it was only right to wed in the only place that truly feels like home – Maui!
The sunset wedding was pulled off without an official planner – because they decided they wanted to be married with just a two-week notice! Yup, the ambitious couple knew the perfect wedding date for them would be 2.22.22. The moment they realized this once-in-a-lifetime milestone was right around the corner, they knew they had no time to waste. With a little bit of luck, photographer Kristy Taylor was there to capture their special day. Ready for some serious romance? Let’s get into it!
Life on Maui

Growing up on the beautiful North Shore of Maui helped Kai truly get in touch with nature and find his life’s passion: surfing! Getting married at his family home in that same location was truly a no-brainer.

Aside from the excitement of getting married, Molly and Kai are also expecting the greatest blessing of all – children! The two are anticipating the arrival of their twin baby girls in April of 2022.

Curious how Molly got such a beautiful and bump-friendly dress on such short notice? As it turns out, it was a lucky coincidence!

Luckily by chance, I had a dress in the works with a local designer for a baby bump photoshoot that we had scheduled. So I was good to go on such short notice!

Look Into the Future

Molly walked over to her excited groom to share their intimate first look together.

It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been with someone – that first look on your wedding day will always be special and unique!

Even in black and white, these two shine!

The whole day was so memorable and we had time to enjoy each moment, but my most favorite was our first look. Seeing Kai’s face when he turned around instantly brought me to tears! It was amazing. We took the time to focus on each other and the commitment we were making. Our Favorite Memory

Married on the Beach

Kai wore a fantastic navy suit custom-made for him in Positano years prior to the wedding. It most certainly came in handy for their last-minute nuptials!

The wedding ceremony included traditional Hawaiian elements, such as the ring blessing. In this ceremony, rings are placed in a wooden bowl filled with ocean water. The officiant will typically dip a ti leaf into the water to bless the rings!

The happy couple is finally married!

Keep it simple! After our perfect intimate wedding celebration being surrounded by our family, I couldn’t imagine having it any other way. It was beyond special. Our Advice
Congratulations to Molly and Kai on your wedding and incoming little ones!
