My younger sister and her husband were married in a small one room church in Vermont – a church that had no electric, so candles were lit in the window sills and along the front. Picture this: a small church in the middle of a field with mountains all around and some light rain (not her idea, but it is good luck- right?) and then the music of Sia Breathe Me. I know everyone knows this song – but maybe you didn’t think of it as a wedding processional? My sister timed it perfectly, around min 2:45 with that dramatic crescendo – she walked in. Talk about emotional! I love that music can do that. I think her choice also is a great example that you should pick music that you love – it is the soundtrack to your biggest day as a couple. What music fits you as a couple? If you haven’t seen the video for this song, definitely watch it – Sia is very creative. Enjoy and Happy Friday!!
oh my gosh, I love that video.
This is one of my FAVE songs. Love the use of polaroids in this – even if it’s just a digital mockup :) Will my children even know what a polaroid is?
This song still makes me tear up because of the Six Feet Under finale (anyone?). But it would be a gorgeous processional song– nice choice!
I have always adored this song & video :D
so melancholic… in a beautiful way.
Great minds think alike! Wonderful song selection!
I agree. Modern music makes it feel more dramatic & interesting. Love this song.
I have heard this song a number of times, but I never knew who sang it or what it was called. I really was JUST thinking about it after watching So You Think You Can Dance. I’m so happy to know what to download!
I’ve never heard this song before but it’s lovely. I think that’s really good advise, we are trying to pick songs that we really like and may not necessarily be ‘wedding-y’
Wow…I never heard this song..and I think it’s a great choice for a wedding- and you’re right- your sister timed it beautifully.:-)
music is so important at setting the vibe of a wedding, and that was such an awesome choice! we are thinking about using an iron and wine cover of a postal service song.
Love this song and absolutely love that your sister used it for her wedding – it’s really quite perfect!
Brilliant!
Oh my god, thank you so much. I think I have just found my processional sog now. Have been thinking about it for months and nothing was quite right but this is perfect. I heard it once a while ago and never found out who it was by. Thank you :)
Does anyone know if there is a way to get an instrumental version of the song? I would love to use it as our processional!
Where in Vermont is this church? I'm planning a Vermont wedding, and I want something in the woods and true Vermont nature but our parents are a little upset we dont want to get married in a church, this could be a great compromise, but we are planning on staying around the Burlington area.
If you remember where the church was that would real help to my search for a cereamony site.
The church was in Landgrove, which is in Southern Vermont. We actually recently moved to Vermont and live 20 minutes outside of Burlington. There is a Fantastic church in Richmond called The Round Church. It is similar to the church in Landgrove in that it does not have church services anymore and it used only for Town meetings and Weddings. I highly recommend looking into having your ceremony there. http://www.oldroundchurch.com/. It is popular wedding spot and fills up quick.
Please let me know if I can help you out with anything. Vermont is such a beautiful place to have a wedding.

Thank you, I actully grew up in Williston (where my parents still live) I know of that church and have thought about it. Were thinking of having the reception at Shelburne Museum or Farms so we would like to stay in the area of the Ceremony. When we go visit my parents for the holidays in the winter I'll make sure to bring him to the round church. It really is beautiful inside, were just not religious so that is really the issue since both our parents are.
Your wedding sounds beautiful though. and thanks for letting me know, I'll probably still check it out.
