It’d be pret-ty hard not to fall for today’s darling wedding, held at the Deering Estate at Cutler – a romantic spot that looks like a villa in far away Spain, but is actually located in Miami, Florida. It’s always fun to see where different couples place their priorities and focus for the day, and for Colleen + Chris, their guests were of the utmost importance. Let’s see how they made their friends + fam feel extra-special with a few quick words from Colleen below:
We wanted our wedding to feel warm and personal, as if our guests had come over for a big, fun family dinner (that just so happened to be black tie). That was the starting point and it guided everything from the selection of our officiant (one of our best friends), to the family style menu and farm tables.
Big thanks to Merari Photograhy for sharing these gorgeous images with us today + congrats to the happy couple on a stunning wedding!
These two have some serious style + we love the very classic looks they went with. Colleen wore the prettiest Inbal Dror dress, paired with Christian Louboutins, and Chris chose a timeless black tux by Bonobos, with shoes by Del Toro.
On the topic of style, how pretty do the bridesmaids look in their black Jenny Yoo dresses? If you’re considering classic black for your bridal party, start your search with our round-up below:
Processional: Bridal Party: Hallelujah – Jeff Buckley; Bride: Higher Love – James Vincent McMorrow
Recessional: Sweet Disposition – Temper Trap
First Dance: You are the Best Thing – Ray LaMontagne

It was actually after the wedding was over. The whole day was wonderful, but in the whirlwind of it all, you almost forget that the day is about the two of you. When we got back to our hotel, the elevator doors opened and the inside was completely mirrored. There is this fraction of a second sometimes, before you realize you are looking at your own reflection, where you get to see yourself as everyone else sees you. In that moment, I think we both saw ourselves standing together as a bride and groom and we almost surprised ourselves. The significance of the day hit us both at the same time and it was a really special and unexpectedly romantic moment.

For us, the most important thing was making sure that our guests had a great time and felt like family. I think small thoughtful gestures – like putting guests' names on their menus and making sure they get welcome bags when they check in – go a long way. People really do appreciate it. Also, if you are going to use a planner, take the time to find someone who shares your aesthetic. It's a huge relief to know that you can trust them to make all the pretty details happen.

Looks like a successful blend of rustic and classic came together in more ways than one. Very nice.
Black & gold for a wedding makes it formal. I love the combo.
