Vows, drinks, dinner, disco! It’s all our favorite things wrapped into one—add in creative design and a super-cool venue and we’re 1000% sold. This funky wedding shoot comes to us by way of vibrant San Diego, with planning + design by the talented Plan Prep Party. The retro color palette is an inspiration, and all the details just scream FUN! Here’s a little peek into the day behind the (really pretty) scenes:
Taylor + Naomi’s intimate disco love fest is a styled wedding shoot full of true love, laughter and adventure. With a citrusy retro color palette and an eclectic mix of modern and vintage design elements, every element was selected to create a purposeful collection for this most special day. The theme of ‘Better Together’ not only radiated from the brides, but was showcased by a team of all-female wedding pros creating magic behind the lens.
Go girls! We’ve got brilliant photos from Kami Olavarria to take us through the details of the day. Time to get your disco on!
Feeling those 70s vibes from the Invitation Only Design paper goods!
The Super Creative Ceremony Space
This ceremony backdrop installation by Kindred and Copper! The wrapped rope and tassels were inspired by retro 70s wallpaper…dig it!
So sweet!
Such fresh ideas from The Floral Craft! Love the foraged boho feel of the girls’ bouquets.
Both brides wore dress designs by Christina Sfez.
Modern Reception with Vintage Accents
Loving those vintage plates and glasses from Not My Dish!
So pretty!
Retro Sweetheart Table
The team looked to shades of yellow along with vintage stoneware, brass candle holders, and retro dinnerware to round out the reception display.
How fun + funky is this tabletop?! Love it!
Frost Me Gourmet made a fun retro cake and the citrus decor+ mini disco balls are so perfect!
The 70s-Inspired Boho Lounge
The venue, Fruitcraft, is a beautiful celebration space in San Diego that has creatively taken craft alcohol to a whole new level by fermenting (and distilling) all types of fruit. Anyone else want to visit immediately?
The Story
Wondering about the story behind this gorgeous couple? We love a good love story, so we got all the details from Taylor!
Naomi and I met at a gay bar in Chicago in 2014. We were so in tune with each other from that very first date, that it was hard to imagine we wouldn’t end up together. There was one little issue though: I had already decided I was moving to San Diego and would be leaving just after she settled into her new life in Chicago. It was heart breaking for both of us, but we knew the timing wasn’t right. We remained friends and spent time together before I left for California. As excited as I was to move, I couldn’t help but feel the universe was playing one huge joke on me by bringing this incredible woman into my life, knowing that we were just crossing paths and couldn’t be together.
Loving those darling rings from The Diamond Daughters!
Fast forward to the holidays at the end of 2016, and Naomi was in San Diego visiting family for Christmas. We met up and had the most amazing time dancing, drinking, catching up and being silly—I didn’t want the night to end. She went back to Chicago and we started talking all the time and spent months flying back and forth to see each other. Eventually, we decided that we couldn’t be apart any longer and Naomi would move to San Diego so we could finally start our life together. Nothing I’ve experienced in this lifetime has been greater than the way she loves me and the love I feel for her. It’s like we spent our whole lives waiting for that one moment for our paths to cross, and then we had to figure the rest out…and we did.
Rooftop Romance
The gals went glam with the help of Danielle Robeson and Elwynn and Cass, and we know what you’re thinking. Those BOOTS, right?! We found a similar pair here!

Taylor and Naomi’s wedding styled shoot was captured in a monumental explosion of colored smoke on the rooftop with the Hillcrest Pride Flag standing tall behind them. While the elated brides were surrounded by a rainbow cloud, the streets below erupted in cheering and car horns, celebrating the beautifully incredible message that Love is Love.
Thanks to the creative team behind this shoot for all the sweet + sparkly inspiration!
