With today being the first day of December, this seemed like a gorgeous inspiration shoot to share. :) Today’s inspiration is for the modern couple who want an upscale affair, but not in a typical ballroom space. The venue for this shoot is one of my favorites, Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach, which has an amazing outdoor courtyard which creates an indoor/outdoor modern feel. I love that the team played around with some unique lines, shapes, and color throughout the shoot to achieve a modern + glamorous look that can work anywhere while remain inviting. Thanks to Stacey Lynn Design and Flour for the concept and to Krista Mason Photography for the photos.
Casa de Perrin provided the purple hue you see in the glassware and salt cellars. A common misconception is that when you are going for an upscale refined look, all your items need to match. I hope this shows you that that is so not true! They mixed things up by having all colored glassware be in the same hue, but different shapes and sizes. The modern white glassware and linen provided by Classic Party Rentals plays with different lines and textures to make the subtle purple pop within the tablescape. The elongated silverware, and the geometric fold in the napkins, creates even more pattern within the scene.
The color and the art deco splash is pulled together with the lovely print pieces by Mintwich Design.
The centerpieces were meant to reflect a kaleidoscope, with a lot of small callas engulfing the dahlias. They spray painted herbs a dark purple to create the accents and triangle silver serving trays were used to create more geometric shapes within the tablescape.
The geometric and modern cake provided by A Sweet Design, remains romantic by incorporating intricate flowers separating the tiers.
For the flowers, Carly from Flour created two looks that were out of the ordinary. The first was using a bouquet of all white ti leaves sprayed white, folded and twisted to create the ultimate modern, new look that is perfect for a bride that doesn’t want your typical flowers or wants something totally unique.
The second bouquet was inspired by someone saying “a flower within a flower.” She used large white calla lilies with small purple callas placed inside, then wrapped with silver wire to get them together. The accents provided a geometrical shape enhancing the overall theme.

Hi Jen! I love this shoot. I’m planning a winter-ish wedding since it will be the first weekend in March.
My big question though… are dahlias available in winter? I’m really in love with the red ones with yellow centers, but from what I’m hearing they won’t be available?
Beautiful and the adorable Mr. & Mrs. cards were an even sweeter touch! Loved it!
Thank you so much for the gorgeous feature, Jen! It is so exciting to work with such great talent!
Thank you for the feature! It was such a fun shoot. The team was amazing!
Hi Jen! Thank you so very much for the stunningly beautiful spread. We loved working with everyone, and please let us know if we can provide space for you again in the future! Happy holidays to you and your family.
Gorgeous art deco. As for a winter wedding, I generally prefer the sun. In fact, I have to recommend Costa Rica (www.redpalmvillas.com) for anyone still setting a wedding location.
Beautiful Palette and shoot! Love it all!
Love the aesthetic of this shoot. The colors and details are simply beautiful!
Laura – Dahlias are typically available in the states during the Fall months. Growers are able to fly almost anything in from anywhere but you’d be paying a premium for that service. You may want to consider ranunculus or anemones as alternatives. They are both available in the winter and come in red, too.
Oh purple how I love thee. Gorgeous shoot.
Some very fun and modern ideas. Love the decision to use Aubergine. Great color!
