Louise + Dave wanted a small and intimate wedding day. They live in Melbourne, Australia, but choose a venue outside the city so their guests would be able to make a weekend out of it and really enjoy time with one another. As big fans of color and vintage styles, they made sure to include both in their day with lots of handmade touches – and check out her sparkly red shoes below! Love those. :) Thanks so much to Love Katie + Sarah Photography for the lovely photos!
My favourite parts of the day were:
• The ceremony. Butterflies in the tummy and all, just like our first date 10 years ago.
• Getting to wear the dress! And the shoes! And seeing all our friends dressed up to our 'Vintage garden party' theme. All the dress-up parties we've held over the years paid off with great looking weddings guests. I had initially bought a 60s style crochet mini dress with 3/4 flared selves to wear on the day but then decided to visit a few bridal shops with Mum. After trying on a few dresses I kept wanting bigger, BIGGER! MORE tulle! I got it cut off ballerina length and wore bright sparkly red shoes to add a bit of fun and colour.
• Marrying Dave and celebrating with all our closest family/friends. It is really overwhelming all the love you feel from everyone on the day. It was so much more fun than I could ever have imagined.
• The next day. We rented a farm house with a view of the Macedon ranges for the next day as it was the long weekend. Most of the weddings guests came and we sat in the sun all day eating, drinking and relaxing - and of course again in dress-ups to a bow and bow ties theme (had to make the most of all those bow ties). It was great to relax with everyone and recall all the great moments from the day before.
Louise and her mother made all the bow ties (over 80 for the day). If you love that idea and want to make your own, we have an easy Bow Tie DIY to make your own. Louise’s mother also made nearly 30 meters of bunting for the day!
Have fun with everything, from the planning to the day itself! It's really just a great excuse to plan/hold an awesome party!!!
