A Love Bird Wedding: Ambre + Todd

A Love Bird Wedding: Ambre + Todd

big tree, horse, wedding

Ambre + Todd wanted their wedding day to be a reflection of their personalities and love for each other. On their first date, Ambre still remembers Todd’s Modern Amusement shirt with brightly colored birds all perched across his chest. She’s always loved anything with birds, owls or peacock feathers, so what better way for them to express themselves than having a “love bird” themed wedding. :) They incorporated feathers, bird cages, and anything vintage (another love of theirs) into the day. I love that Ambre was inspired by GWS and you can see how personal + fun their wedding was in the stunning photos by Priscila Valentina.

Love that Ambre even had Peacock feathers on her shoes + in her bouquet!

Just had to share these photos of what the groom and his groomsmen were doing while the gals are getting ready – so not fair! :)

Most memorable moment of your wedding day?
Ambre: We didn’t want to see each other before the ceremony, so we held hands around a corner before saying “I do.” As the curtains were pulled open, and the music started playing, all I could see was my future husband. His smile and the look in his eyes will be engraved in my mind forever. Expressing our love to each other in sight of God, with family and friends will be a memory to cherish forever.
Todd: The most memorable moment of the day was the last dance. The entire wedding was so amazing and it really sank in at that moment that I was going to be able to spend the rest of my life with the girl I love more than anything in the world. I would have given anything to make the world stop so that dance wouldn’t have had to end.

Such a beautiful moment captured above…

What song did you walk down the aisle to? The song we walked down the aisle to was “Marry Me” by Train. The song brings so much emotion, and we loved it the first time we heard it. We exited as husband and wife to “Beautiful Day” by U2. It truly was a beautiful day.

Any advice for those planning now?
My most important advice for wedding planning is to remember that your wedding day will be one of the best days of your lives together. Also, if you want to have a DIY wedding, focus on what details are most important to you. The last thing you want is to dread over having to do a project while hating every minute of it. It should be fun! You’re probably not the only creative one, so get your family and friends together because they would love to help you.

The wedding day should be all about you both. It’s your time together! Don’t feel pressured into having something you guys don’t want. Our wedding wasn’t the traditional idea of a wedding, but the entire day was about us. So enjoy every minute of it!

Congrats to Ambre + Todd!

DIY: Pretty Shoe Clips

DIY: Pretty Shoe Clips

DIY pretty shoe clips

Today I have not one, but two fun ways to change up your shoes from our DIY contributors, Jessica + Garett over at Wednesday. This are perfect for your wedding shoes, rehearsal dinner shoes, shoes for your bridesmaids – or maybe even an upcoming holiday party! An easy way to turn an old pair of shoes into a new pair. :) Let’s start first with these pretty bows for your shoes.

• one spool of ribbon

• hot glue gun + glue
• felt
• ruler
• shoe clips: we ordered ours from The Creative Seed

bow shoe clip DIY

Step 1: First you will need to cut the ribbon. You will need the following:
• Two strips: 8 inches, Two strips: 7 inches, Two strips: 4 ¼ inches, Two strips: 2 ½ inches

Step 2: Put the 4 ¼ inch and 2 ½ inch strip to the side for now.

Step 3: Hot glue the two ends of each 8 inch and 7 inch strip together, so that you have four hoops. Stand each hoop up, so you can look through it. Put a dot of hot glue on the inside middle of each hoop, and push the top and bottom together so it makes a symmetrical eight shape.

Step 4: Take the 4 ¼ inch strips and cut small triangles out of all four ends.

Step 5: Make two stacks. Each stack should have the 4 ¼ inch flat ribbon at the bottom, with a larger hoop in the middle and the smaller hoop on top. Put a small glue dot in the middle of the ribbons to keep them together.

Step 6: Wrap your 2 ½ in ribbon around the middle of your stack and glue it together at the bottom to make a really easy and pretty bow.

Step 7: Cut two nickel sized circles out of felt, and hot glue the felt circles onto the flat tops of the shoe clips. Apply glue to the bottom of the bow and glue your bow to the felt on the shoe clip.

Tada! Now you are done, and you can clip your shoe clip to the front, side or heel of any flats or heel!

Or maybe flowers are more your style? Check out these easy to make flower shoe clips.

flower shoe clip supplies:
• your choice of fabric
• matching thread
• needle
• pencil
• scissors
• felt
• hot glue and hot glue gun
• shoe clips: we ordered ours from The Creative Seed
• petal template (download it here)

Step 1: Print the template provided and trace the outline of the template on your fabric until you have 20 traced flowers. Cut out your flowers.

Step 2: Divide the 20 petals into two stacks of 10. Intentionally stagger each flower on top of one another in it’s stack.

Step 3: Thread your needle and stitch an ‘X’ in the center of one of your stacks of flowers.

Step 4: Fold your stack in half from top to bottom, and put in a few stitches around the fold so the fold will hold. Fold your stack again, so that it is now ¼ of it’s original size. Stitch 4-6 stitches along the open fold, so it securely remains folded. Once your done with this step you can kind of manipulate the way the petals lay and fold out by hand. Repeat these instructions for the second flower.

Step 5: Cut two nickel sized circles out of felt, and hot glue the felt circles onto the flat tops of the shoe clips. Apply glue to the bottom of the fabric flower and glue your flower to the felt on the shoe clip. Your flower probably has a pretty pointy corner from where you’ve folded it twice, so you’ll want to push the flower down very hard on the felt. This will help it open up, look more full and lay flatter.

You are done and can clip your shoe clip to the front, side or heel of any flats or high heels!
