DIY: Neon Toe Shoes

neon shoe DIY

For those of who were at The Cream event the other week, you probably saw our cute neon toe shoes we made for the event. Well, today I’m going to share how you can make them yourselves! Perfect for your wedding, party or everyday wear! I love the bright pop of color on these, but you could use any color you’d like.

Materials:
• Nude Patent Pumps – I bought these from my local DSW for $40, but here is a great pair for $34 from Steve Madden that would also work great
• Pink Fluorescent Neon Spray Paint or even better Floral Spray (color even less likely to chip!)
• Packing Tape
• Old Towels (to protect your shoes when you spray)

Tape Shoes. First you’ll want to tape your shoes. The area you don’t tape is where the color will be. I taped the rubber sole also because I wanted to get a nice, clean finish. You don’t have to tape the inside of your shoes, since we will cover them with an old towel.

Next cover the shoes. Take them outside and spray 2-3 coats on the shoes (don’t use more than 3 coats as the layers of paint are too much and will most likely start to chip). Then spray the color with a sealer to protect and so it won’t chip. This one works well.

And that’s it! You are done. :) The hardest part is making sure you do a good job taping, but otherwise, so easy. Take off the tape and enjoy your fun new shoes!

We tried a pair in pink and pair in yellow – I prefer the pink, but yellow is fun too!

A Patriotic Airplane Hanger Wedding: Janice + Tom

airplane hanger wedding

When Janice + Tom talked about their wedding they both decided they really wanted it to be a reflection of them and their interests. After a long discussion, Tom jokingly mentioned his only wish for their wedding was that there was a giant American flag. :) Well, Janice loved it and the whole thing exploded from there. Since Tom is going to school for aviation mechanics and they both love all things vintage, they knew as soon as they visited the Planes of Fame Museum (with vintage planes and an old airplane hanger) that it was the perfect location! I love the patriotic feel to their whole day and Janice’s red shoes! Thanks so much to Brady Puryear for sending this one my way and congrats to Janice + Tom!A

Favorite Memory of the day? I would have to say that my favorite memory was the actual ceremony itself. Our pastor did a wonderful job at telling our story as well as emphasizing the importance of both the decision we were making and our need for Christ in our union.

The jam jar favors were made by the couple and their family + friends helped with the flowers. Janice’s talented sister designed all the signs, invites + stickers on jars while their aunt made the cake. Super talented family here! :)

Any advice for brides planning now?

Something Tom really wanted was that all our guests had a good time at our wedding. Very often guests are left to wait a long time with nothing to do. So we made sure our guests had games to play while waiting, as well as docents to lead tours of the museum while we were out taking pictures and what not. So I guess what I’m saying is, make sure you do not forget about your guests. I feel it can be so easy to do when getting caught up in the other millions of things that are involved in planning a wedding. :)
