Switzerland Elopement: Sam + Dave

switzerland elopement

Sam + Dave went backpacking for 6 weeks around Europe only 3 months into their relationship. They say it was pretty much a make it or break it kind of trip – but of course they made it! After traveling to 11 different countries, Switzerland was their favorite. So it wasn’t a hard decision to go back to the place they truly fell in love and elope! How romantic! :)

David from Studio 213 Films says about the trip, “This is something they really wanted to do, but their family was not excited about the idea. The solution was to have me go along and make a wedding film that they could share with their family when they returned.”

Such a great way to involve family by sharing your wedding film after the trip! Thanks to Studio 213 Films for the photos + video and congrats to Sam + Dave!

Members of each of our families wrote us notes to read on the day of our wedding. Oh my goodness. It was perfect. These notes helped bring them with us. I never knew my mother could make me cry without even being there ;)

Our favorite part of our wedding day was...the whole day! We loved every moment of it...getting ready together, walking to the train, finding a witness, our commitment, coffee shop, intimate dinner in a remote restaurant up in the Alps, champagne on the house from our lovely server, our first dance outside the restaurant to no music, sitting on a bench wrapped up in each other to keep warm and counting all the shooting stars (we saw 5!) on our walk home, and lastly Skyping our family to tell them about our day.

  1. those mountains, the house and those gloves are awesome!

  2. The video is so magical! What a gorgeous place to get married and travel to. Watching it made me wish I was there! I love watching videos because you can see how in love the couple are and you can tell that Dave and Samantha are completely head over heels. Perfection!

  3. The photos are amazing! Such a precious record of this couple’s commitment to one another…even if family and friends couldn’t be present.

  4. I really like the editing, nice photos and gorgeous couple x

  5. Love this. It is just perfect and the photographer who captured this did an incredible job with this wedding.

  6. what a wonderful couple! and she is so pretty =)

  7. Switzerland is such an amazing country. Beautiful pictures!

  8. Elopements can be extremely beautiful – how I love the idea that they made it despite of their families “not being excited about it”.

  9. So beautiful and intimate! Love the scenery.

  10. oh, i love this. stunning photos.

  11. I love that the bride brought back the old tradition of wearing gloves when you get married. I hope to see more women jump on this great vintage look!

  12. This elopement was captured perfectly! I loved every bit of the video. Europe is very close to my heart so it makes me so happy to see two Americans marry there. I’ve often wondered how the road doing it would be. This proves it is possible even with the small English gap finding a witness ;) I wish this couple the best of luck!
