Roya + Isaiah’s wedding day was a beautiful reflection of their unique style, heritage + personalities, mixed with the perfect amount of quirkiness inspired by Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom! Their love for all things rustic + beautiful led them on a hunt for an outdoor venue where they could truly enjoy the warm North Carolina summer weather. Heritage Hill in Greensboro fit the bill with its expansive lawns, wrap around porches + cozy log cabin, which was perfect for an intimate reception. Alongside helpful family members and friends, Roya + Isaiah were able to handcraft design elements that were meaningful to them and helped tell their story in a playful, vintage-inspired setting! Here’s some advice about DIY projects from Roya:
My mother is very crafty and I definitely took advantage of her skills! Sometimes little details are easier to put together than you think and can save a lot of money. Things that seem time consuming can be done quickly with a few helping hands. Also, it’s the perfect opportunity to make life long memories with the ones you love.
Thanks so much to Chelsea Morgan Photography for sharing Roya + Isaiah’s day with us and big congrats to the newlyweds!
I’m super crazy about Roya’s fun vintage frock from Kitsch Bitsch…
And love the whimsical ceremony space they created!
The bridesmaids wore colorful dresses from Mod Cloth + the guys looked dapper in stylish, mismatched vintage pieces.
Such pretty portraits of Roya + Isaiah in the warm, hazy summer light!
Paper heart garlands + papel picado were strung from the cabin’s ceilings to give the environment a sweet + festive feel. And found bottles filled with baby’s breath topped different vintage design elements (like books + wooden crates) to decorate the reception tables.
One of my favorite memories of the day was our first dance. After our ceremony and dinner, Isaiah and I slipped outside for a brief moment to take pictures in the setting sun. While doing so one of his groomsmen joined us and began serenading us with a song "Stay With You," by John Legend. The funny thing was I never heard the song before but the words and his voice just melted my heart. I asked him if he would be willing to sing it for us and he said yes. Having him be apart of that moment with us was truly memorable and almost magical to me. I couldn't have planned it better if I tried.
Choose great vendors. Vendors are a big part of your wedding day. When you have vendors who understand your ideas and can bring them to life, it relieves a lot of stress.

The first dance serenade is one of the sweetest things I have ever heard! This wedding was totally amazing. I love how easy, breezy, and bohemian it all was!
I LOVE wedding blogs…I read them everyday, and I just adore the inspiration I get. Some mornings I even cry if it’s a good story. :) With that said, I was starting to feel like I had seen every rustic/vintage wedding, as they were all starting to look alike. Until today…this is absolutely stunning and different. I also loved the couple and the obvious spiritual connection between them…and washing her feet as part of the ceremony? Pure sweetness. Thank you for sharing GWS!
Omg. This couple embraced outdoor weddings the best way anyone could, I love the creativity and the colour mixes, such an inspiration for outdoor deco.
Love the dress and exquisite detail in this wedding
