Not only is this wedding full of lots of outdoor adventure, it features my most favorite cake table ever – inspired by a Thiebaud painting! Lisa + Drew love the outdoors and made sure that came across in their day along with culinary delights like paella and a roasted pig. Also, there is a family tradition of bringing homemade cookies to weddings so there were some neat creations inspired by Lisa’s job as a science teacher. The wedding took place at the gorgeous Nestldown in Northern California and was photographed by the talented Kate Harrison.
LOVE how happy they are during the ceremony!
A bit about the cake table from Lisa, I’ve always loved Thiebaud’s work (and Warhol) after taking art class in high school + college and seeing an exhibition at the SF MoMA. I love the way he depicted ordinary things to be really enticing. The way he painted cakes, for example, are vibrant and thick. When I look at his work, I want to take my finger to an edge of a cake and taste the sugary goodness. I also love that the cakes he painted were displays from mom & pop bakeries and/or diners. And everyone knows I love family-run bakeries. So having our wedding “cake” be a recreation of Thiebaud cakes was a simple choice. What’s the saying…”Art imitating life, imitating art”?? When I told my sister (my maid of honor) that we were going to have Thiebaud cakes, she said “That is so you.” which was great! We wanted to make our wedding as personal as possible. That little corner of the barn (the cakes and cookies) was our favorite “detail” of our wedding.
Gorgeous cakes! Congrats to Lisa + Drew and thanks for sharing your day with us.

I think this is my favorite wedding you’ve ever posted. I love the location, the cakes, the giant paella…I can’t decide whether my favorite picture is the steps or the rainbow. I hope my wedding is as gorgeous as this!
That cake table from art is just lovely. It makes me sigh!
What a thoughtful wedding, so much went into the design sensibility! Love the cake and name card experiences.
That location is incredible! The outdoor stairs in the trees look like they’re from a fairytale. Love the cakes too!
I can’t believe this location exists! Perfection! How exciting it’s actually in my neck of the woods!
I love all those cakes! Wish I were there to try some.

Along with just about everyone else commenting I’m in love with that cake table – it’s just so elegant but fun! And I can imagine recreating this at home (for a party, not just a Tuesday night!) lovely.
Love love this wedding. There is nothing more that I get more excited about then when a couple totally thinks outside the box and comes of with clever was to express their personality in their wedding. The stills are great!!
What a gorgeous wedding, and gorgeous photographs!

I want to eat the food! And the cake table made me smile!
Wow! What an amazing wedding… from the main meal to the unbelievable cakes for dessert – and of course the location…. all of it captured so incredibly by the photographer! How does a couple ever chose which photos to buy, they all capture such precious moments? My favorite post yet!
I love this venue and Kate captured it so well. The couple is delightful and so creative. The shots of the cake table are magical!!
LOVE this whole wedding theme! The cakes were so elegant, they suited the bride, groom and theme. The photographer certainly captured the essence of the day. Congratulation to Glamore for recognizing such a unique celebration and to the bride and groom for selecting such an outstanding photographer. The moments were certainly captured.
I have visited your site many times and it keeps getting better. There is so much talent and creativity!
Love this wedding!
Any ideas on how they made the signs/directions piece? Would love to try to recreate something similar!
Very beautiful and thoughtfully-designed. Can you tell us who printed your invitations??
We are recreating “cakes” for a 1963 themed party. Where did you get the print of the painting for the display? We cannot find it anywhere. Thanks!
