Real Wedding: Jessie + Tyler’s Away We Go Wedding

Happy Monday everyone! I’m super excited to share today’s wedding with you all. You might remember this couple’s wedding invitations + engagement photos I shared last year. Tyler + Jessie share a love of travel, adventure and each other. :) Their wedding theme was Away We Go! From Tyler, “Away We Go represented our honeymoon to Europe in the fall (Sept 8th to Dec 16th) but means much more metaphorically as we step forward on our new life path.” They are back from their amazing honeymoon and sharing their wedding with us today. Congrats you two!

Jessie gave her bridesmaids a bottle of the Three Thieves‘ “The Show” Cabernet Sauvignon wine – which displays a label designed by Hatch Show Print. The girls also received a custom piece of jewelry from Sugar Blossom Design and a mix CD from Jessie.

Most memorable moment of your wedding day?
Tyler: Two moments. I remember Jessie walking down the aisle (obviously), but more specifically the way the air felt and the sound the chairs made as they all scraped the floor when the audience came to their feet for the bride. We had one of our groomsmen play Harvest Moon on guitar as she walked in. The sound carried perfectly and the entire room had such a nice intimate buzz to it. The second would be immediately after we exited the building following the ceremony. The wedding party came and gave us massive hugs, handshakes, high fives and just about anything else you can think of! Pure gold.

Jessie: Sneaking up on Tyler for our first look at each other. And also walking down the aisle with my dad while watching Tyler with the big silly grin on his face. And the first time we were presented as Mr. and Mrs. Thiessen, that was exciting.

Silkscreened Napkins above were made from old bed sheets that were washed and bleached, then cut and hand sewn with love and care by our mums and Jessie’s grandma. Design by us and printed by Nigel Burns at Open Mesh. The jam was made from hand picked raspberries by Jessie’s Mom and us. We designed the labels.

Additionally we bought and collected 200 vintage European postcards (ebay) and placed them at our tables for our guests to sign as our guest book. The mason jars were bought and collected by my mom Val Thiessen from used winnipeg.

Any advice for those planning now?
Tyler: Think ahead and work as a team. We did so much prep work the summer before the wedding that we saved ourselves a lot of gray hairs in the final weeks. There certainly were stressful moments, but plan early to enjoy it late. Jessie: Like Tyler said, work as a team and plan ahead! It’s better to get things done early and be safe rather than sorry. Try and put as much of your personality into things as you can. Things will turn out all the more unique and mean so much more to you.

Tyler: We were blessed with a sunny day, but we came prepared for the worst with rubber boots. It had rained on and off for almost 3 weeks and we were prepared to roll with the punches as they came. Luckily the clouds parted the morning of and stayed that way for the entire weekend. Jessie: We had a blast from start to finish on the big day. We had so much help, love and support from all our family and our wedding party through this whole experience, it made things all the more memorable.
