Whenever Ewan & Brianna Phelan of Last Forty Percent send a wedding to me, I get so excited. They take some of the most creative portraits and really capture the wedding like no one else – and this one is no different! Dave + Charlotte and 40 of their closest friends traveled to Australia to get married. The ceremony took place on a beautiful brick stair case and the reception right beside the Indian Ocean. Dave’s father officiated the ceremony and they had a very small wedding party with only family members standing up with them.
The reception was at Barchetta, a beautiful little cafe/restaurant directly on the Indian Ocean. They closed the venue for the private event and the decor colours were corals, sea foam blues and whites. Because almost all the guests traveled from afar, the decor had a world travel theme. The cake table had a globe and travel books from different countries. The signing book was personalized post cards (with photos of their dogs and the two of them on the stamps) – guests were asked to write a message and share one place they thought the couple should travel together. Candles filled the entire room with the lights dimmed. Favors were a ‘travel kit’ that included a personalized water bottle and cookies and treats for on the road. The sweets table was filled with items made from secret family recipes.
The day after the wedding, Charlotte + Dave set out on an adventure with their photographers. A giant off-road SUV. 60 blankets. 20 pillows. 100 clothespins. A bed. And the Australian Outback. I love how their day after photos turned out – GORGEOUS!
Thanks so much for sharing your lovely wedding with us today and congrats to Charlotte + Dave!

my cousin’s wedding invitation was a passport too! :)
Wow, just wow. I love it all! The ceremony and reception are wonderful, the bride is stunning and their day after shoot is amazing! Beautiful work Ewan and Brianna!
I love the unique color palette, and the photos among the lines of laundry is beyond brilliant! So neat…really soft and romantic. :)
The day-after photos are amazing! What a neat concept.
Gorgeous! What a beautiful wedding and couple!
The small group shots with the archway background are stunning. Adds so much depth and interest to what can be uncreative shots.
Last Forty Percent never cease to amaze me! This wedding is so beautiful, the colors are radiant and that bride is a model! Great post!
I’m totally into the invites, they are amazing!
Thanks for the feature Jen – we always love being a part of your site :)
This is truly stunning! Thanks GWS for sharing
Crystal of Distinct Occasions worked so hard on designing and custom creating by hand each special detail of this wedding. It’s absolutely beautiful!
I had such a great time designing for Dave & Charlotte. With moving abroad they had so much on their plates already that they gave me free reign to be creative and surprise their guests (& ultimately them)! With custom pieces all over I even had fun taking a hand at making their rustic handmade wedding cake filled with fresh local strawberries and iced in dream whip frosting! Congratulations Dave & Charlotte – enjoy the sunshine!
It was a pleasure to work with Crystal in designing the printable reception stationery for this wedding. Crystal had a fantastic vision for the wedding and it was a pleasure to work with her and bring the travel guide element into the details!
love the last forty percent’s work. such a great team. love her wedding gown too and loved their vows as well.
Beautiful wedding and I love the photos in the sheets.
The theme of the wedding is great. The colors and the design they used in the party are cool. And this scene really enthrall my attention. Congratulations!
As the bride in this post I have to say that Crystal from Distinct Occasions was AMAZING!! She is absolutely incredible to work with. Such a huge support through the whole process she was more like a good friend that happened to be our wedding planner/designer. She is such an artist and imagined so many of those little dreamy details you see in this post. Everywhere we looked there were new personalized touches that made our wedding unique. As far as wedding vendors go, I’d recommend Distinct Occasions in a heartbeat :)
Love the passport idea, how cute! Beautiful pictures of the couple as well. The theme carries on so well with the decor, love it!
