Today’s whimsical styled shoot, which is so gorgeous we had to break it into two parts, is pure fun! Think Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom meets the sophisticated simplicity of Kinfolk Magazine for a sweet Summer engagement + elopement! Laura of Laura Izumikawa Photography + Caroline of Oh, Lovestruck Event Design and Styling were inspired by these two very different styles + wanted to blend the natural elements of the forest with the quirky, mid-century modern details from the film. Together, they created the story of a couple’s surprise engagement followed by a charming elopement in the woods. Here’s more from Laura:
We decided to take the characters from the film, Sam + Suzy, and visualize what their engagement + elopement would’ve looked like in a unique Kinfolk-like vignetting. When designing the wedding shoot details, Caroline was inspired by the characters + their personalities and the quirky props + details that were true to the Wes Anderson aesthetic and his peculiar + beautifully strange vignettes. Staying true to the movie’s storyline while creating a cool interpretation of the movie’s plot, the engagement + elopement setting was in the midst of a gorgeous and magical, summer forest setting. Since the forest was the main backdrop of the movie’s storyline, we decided to create an intimate setting for the two runaway lovers in their forest hideout.
The team used so many super-fun props to really achieve the Moonrise Kingdom feel… I just love it!
Love the invites by Love Vs. Design
Megan Gray of Honey and Poppies created amazing floral pieces that were unruly, filled with wildflowers, airy and forest inspired. The floral crown headpiece she created matched the amazing cascading bouquet, all with rope detailing and fun, bright florals + textures.
You might recognize this adorable real life couple as Jill + Zach of Little Black Boots :)
Be sure to check back in bit for Part 2 of this super fun, Moonrise Kingdom wedding inspiration!
