Handmade Vintage Australian Wedding: Jess + Leon

mr and mrs signs

Jess has collected lots of things throughout her life – which worked out pretty perfect for her wedding with Leon! They used all the things she had been collecting over the years to decorate their venues and it couldn’t have looked more perfect and “Jess + Leon”. They described their day as intimate and a reflection of the two of them, while also being romantic + whimsical in the old fashioned, home-made sort of way. From Jess: Ever since I was little I have always noticed and valued the little personal touches that people put in and I think that those little touches are absolutely vital in creating an atmosphere filled with warmth and happiness. So we went to town and filled the whole day with them!

Such a pretty + love filled day! Congrats to Jess + Leon and thanks so much to Christine Lim for sharing her work with us today!

Jess surprised Leon with the lovely cufflinks (above) on the wedding day. The cufflinks were of their dogs. Unfortunately, one of their dogs, Dahlia passed away a week before the wedding, so the cufflinks were quite a meaningful gift.

We honestly can not pin-point the most memorable moment of our day, each second was absolutely incredible, from walking down the aisle and seeing all the smiling faces of our closest friends and family, to watching everyone running around our reception exploring the different areas and listening to their excited ohh's and ahhh's, surprising everyone with our dance moves for the first dance (even thou we both have two left feet), right up to missing our bus ride home and seeing the looks on everyone's faces as we both gathered up armfuls of gifts and walked off into the night (luckily our house is just a short walk down the road)!

Make sure you enjoy the whole planning process, even when you are stressed up to your eyeballs and tears are streaming down your cheeks from being so tired because it really is one of the most incredible days you with both have! My only other tip is to have fun with the styling of it all! If you are like me and love a thousand different ideas and can't narrow them down then find a way to use them all! We had a different centrepiece for each table because there are just way too many cute things looking for loving homes out there and it still ended up looking amazing! :)

  14. Ah! I love this wedding! Looking through the images I was thinking to myself it looked familiar, then I realised why… I love the Melville Rose Nursery! Thanks for the lead on the gown and bridesmaid’s dress, it’s stunning!

  17. Aaww, the dog looks so cute and cuddly with its lovely head dress. The photos speak of how wonderful the occasion was. Love the shots!

  18. amazing tattoo, blowing my mind -)

  19. What a lovely day. Such a beautiful couple and an amazing mix of who they are. The dress is by far my favorite. How did you decide on the Pink Floyd song? I love Hey You and have thought about having that as my processional but of course people have commented on how depressing the song is.

    • Thanks so much Amanda! So hard to choose the precessional song, there are way to many choices out there! We settled on the little intro bit because it is simple but beautiful, our guitarist could play it solo while still including all the little bits and pieces in the music and it reminds me of my dad who passed away so it was like a part of him was with me when I was walking down the isle with my brother :-)

  20. Oh my goodness!! I absolutely adore everything about this wedding – and being from Perth myself it gives me lot’s of inspiration for vendors and styling. The dress is gorgeous and I love all the decorations used at the reception. Was the reception also held at the Melville Rose Heritage cafe? Or was it somewhere else?

    • You are too sweet Ashlee! the Elvi ladies are amazing, if you still need your dress give Sandra or Birgitta a call! We had the reception in the Padbury Stables at the Rosehill Country Club in Guildford, give Ali aq call there to tee up a tour – such an amazing venue and they give you the freedom to decorate it all as you wish, food was amazing as was the drinks selection! If you need any help with your big day pop into my work anytime and we can chat all things wedding! I am at Hire Society in Nedlands xxx

  21. Oh my God, this is the most beautiful wedding I’ve ever seen! Her tattoos are stunning to start with! And from Perth, just like me! Not that I’m planning a wedding right now, but this gives me so much inspiration for when it does happen! Love the photography too. Urgh just so much love.

  22. Amazing Wedding! Do you know where the reception was held? :)
