Handmade Boho Chic Wedding: Leah + Jakeh

hippie wedding

You might recognize this gorgeous couple from their engagement photos I shared a few months ago. Leah + Jakeh are both young, but have been dreaming of getting married since the day they met + fell in love – when they were just 16 years old! They both enjoy the simple things in life: surfing, animals + the beach. After they got engaged they were so excited that they were almost husband + wife that they really didn’t want to worry about all the small details – they were just so excited to have found each other + ready to start their lives together. So sweet and what it’s all about, right? :)

They decided on a simple + sweet wedding which would be a perfect reflection of them as a couple. Leah wanted the wedding to have a boho chic look to it – with a mix of Free People and a bit nature inspired – and made all the decorations. From Leah: Seeing all those decorations on the day of our wedding made it so special for Jakeh and I, as we knew everything from the centerpieces to the hand-painted sticks was a result of our creativity and hard work.

Congrats to Leah + Jakeh and thanks so much to Priscila Valentina Photography for the gorgeous photos!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

The most memorable moment of the wedding day for me was when the doors opened and I saw the most attractive man standing at the end of the aisle waiting for me. Right before my dad and I were about to walk down the aisle, my dad told me that the only one I was to look at as I walked down the aisle, was my groom. This was extremely hard for me because right as we began to walk Jakeh, my groom, started to cry which made me cry! We had waited so long for this moment, and now that it was happening, I couldn’t help but cry as I stared at my loving groom. It was such an amazing moment, one that I will never forget.

I cannot tell you how absolutely amazing Priscila + Nick from Priscila Valentina Photography are to work with! They got to the hotel room early on the morning of the wedding day and stayed by my side until the wedding day was over at about twelve in the morning. They never missed a moment and did above and beyond what I could have ever asked for. They were so sweet and encouraging, and captured the day perfectly. It is hard to find photographers that will be at your wedding for long hours, do a fantastic job, and be dedicated to making your day special, but Priscila Valentina Photography delivered! I can honestly say that Priscila and Nick cared just as much about our wedding day as my husband and I did. The word amazing isn’t sufficient enough to describe their work. We love them!

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Do not worry about how pretty the food, venue, or guest gifts are! On the day of, these small things will not even matter. We did both our ceremony and reception at a church, we had street tacos, and made small candles for the guests to take home. After the wedding I can’t even explain how many people were thrilled with everything and said it was the most beautiful wedding! Choose the things that are most important to you, for us, it was the photography and decorations. After you decide what is most important, focus your time and energy on those important aspects of the wedding. After it is all over, you get to keep the pictures forever, so I suggest not going cheap on photography. Also do not worry about impressing your guests, they are just happy to be there to watch you say your vows, everything else is just a bonus for them!
