Today is National S’mores Day! I know there is a day for everything. :) So in honor of one of my favorite treats, some fun ideas for incorporating yummy s’mores into your day starting with this amazing s’mores bar from Amy Atlas!
I’ve seen lots of weddings – and even been to a few where s’mores were roasted later in the evening. Since it is your wedding day, why not gourmet up the s’mores a bit! I tried these amazing gourmet marshmallows from plush puffs last year at a food festival and can attest they are delicious! They even have special limited edition flavors like maple bacon and strawberry hibiscus which would be to-die-for in s’mores! Pairing them with the perfect chocolate is key. I’m sure most of you don’t know this, but I grew up right outside Hershey, PA – and my mom even worked for the famous chocolate company as a chemist and then in their marketing department. She is totally a chocolate connoisseur so I asked her advice on the perfect pairings.
For a super gourmet s’more, Scharffen Berger (this is an artisan chocolate company in San Francisco that Hershey actually owns) is a perfect choice. I’m a big dark chocolate fan and I think the tasting squares are the perfect size for s’mores. Hershey Bliss is another great choice for smores as it’s super creamy and they have a bunch of different flavors. Also the perfect size for a s’more and easier to find in your local store.
Making your own graham crackers are the way to go and love this recipe from Smitten Kitchen, but if you don’t have time the classic store bought graham cracker works also. :)
