Elegant Washington Estate Wedding: Lisa + Elie

vintage car

Lisa + Elie are as cute as they come! And their vision for their elegant Washington private estate wedding was for the day to reflect their relationship + values, and to incorporate their friends + family into the celebration wherever they could. The night before the wedding, instead of having a traditional rehearsal dinner, they hosted a relaxed picnic for all of their guests. And the morning following their big day, they threw a fun brunch at their house to bid all their favorite friends adieu! Since they had a ton of out of town guests, it was a major priority for them to get to spend quality time with each person. I know a lot of you who are planning your wedding now will find yourselves in a similar situation, so why not take a cue from Lisa + Elie and make a lovely long weekend out of it?

More from Lisa about the day, We integrated both of our faiths and cultural traditions into the ceremony.  Instead of the traditional readings for the Jewish Seven Blessings ceremony, we asked seven family and friends to give us their own unique, personal blessing. It was one of the highlights. Another highlight was when our friend, Daisy, played an original song she wrote for us, before we said our vows.  She perfectly captured our life and our love in her song, I Do. Overall, that was one of the most special parts of our whole wedding experience — how much fun we had, the friendships we both created and strengthened, and the love and support we felt from our community.

Thanks so much to Michele M. Waite Photography for sharing these beautiful photos of Lisa + Elie’s day with us, and big congrats to the happy couple!

I’m mildly obsessed with Lisa’s romantically untamed bouquet by Sinclair & Moore Events. It featured the prettiest ivory garden roses, along with jasmine vine, pink astilbe, blushing bride protea + more! And how cute are the bridesmaid’s mini versions (which also included anemones) above?!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

The most memorable part of the day was the overwhelming love and support of our family and friends who were there to celebrate with us. You could feel the joy in the air. It was like nothing we had ever experienced before. We just kept thinking, “Everyone should have a wedding!” Everyone should have an experience where they feel that kind of love. It strengthens your soul. I can’t imagine a better way to launch our life together.

Since I am a registered dietitian nutritionist, and we both love great food, the wedding food was very important to us.  Our friends, Jessica + Mataio, from Ciao Thyme catered the wedding.  We asked them to create an incognito (surprise) menu for us, meaning we didn’t know the wedding menu until we sat down to eat!  Not only did they completely blow us away with the wedding dinner itself, but, knowing our love for local food, they created a surprise Farmer’s Market for our cocktail hour, as their wedding gift to us.  The whole experience was spectacular, and completely perfect for us.

Sinclair & Moore Events not only created the stunning florals, but they beautifully designed the reception to feel like an elegant, european-inspired family dinner. Love how the mini baguette escort cards double as guest favors!

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Relax and have fun. Be nice to each other, and remember why you’re doing all of this planning. The marriage is the most important part. Don’t be afraid to ask, “why?” If a tradition doesn’t feel right to you, then question it. Figure out how to make the wedding and the celebration personal.
