I’m excited to share this fun + festive (and easy!) DIY today from our DIY contributor Christy of One Handspun Day!
Feather ornaments have been popping up all over the place this holiday season so I thought it would be fun to create a garland out of them. I absolutely love how it turned out and am so excited to share this quick & easy project with you!
Materials:
• Clear ornaments
• Feathers
• Sparkly trimmings or ribbons
Step One: Remove Ornament Caps
Remove the caps from all of your ornaments by squeezing the sides of the circle wire together.
Step Two: Add Feathers to the Ornaments
Place a feather into each of your ornaments and replace the caps. I chose fluffy white feathers to give the illusion of a soft flurry of snowflakes but for an added punch of fun you could drop in a few sequins, a pinch of glitter or dip the feather ends in gold paint for a gilded look!
Step Three: Tie Ornaments to the Garland
Thread each ornament onto your sparkly trim and secure in place with a single knot. Continue adding ornaments to your garland until you run out of trimming or ornaments!
So easy and this would also make a great decor element for a winter wedding, right?!

I made these last year and they were so beautiful! Unfortunately, my cats were kittens at the time and Annabel was obsessed with feathers. Coming home from work to find a toppled tree and shattered ornaments was no fun, but I managed to salvage two whole “feather balls” for decorating this year. haha!

I’ve seen something similar to this done in the past. Looks great and is easy to do.
Ooooh, what a pretty idea!! Thank you for sharing…
So pretty. I’m currently working on my wall of baubles and some with feathers would be a perfect addition. http://pinterest.com/pin/144326363030085036/
Christy is always amazing and creative! How fun is this!
Lovely idea, works for Winter weddings and holiday decor for sure. Could also use for spring and summer weddings, since the ornaments are clear, easy to add color to match the wedding colors. Jennifer with http://www.LinenTablecloth.com
