Trend Spotlight: Cards + Cakes with Minted

Cards and Cakes with Minted

Here at GWS, we see countless cakes + invitations come through, and keep a pulse on what designs are trending. So with each season + passing year, we’re thrilled to see what artistic creations we come by and share them all with you! One thing we really love is how an invitation can set the tone for the celebration and then how it is translated into the event. For example, say you’re sending out a watercolor-inspired invite — you could then incorporate pastel florals, watercolor escort cards, and even a watercolor painted cake! There are so many ways to tie the whole day together and we’re pretty darn giddy about the possibilities!

Minted is our go-to for stylish invites, and it just so happens that we’ve got a few of our favorites pulled, along with matching cakes by Cathy Haebe of Knead to Make! Cathy used the invitations as the source of inspiration and crafted confectionary masterpieces fit for a fête. A few of the trends you’ll see this year include: marble + stone-inspired cakes, rose gold (as seen above), tropical + banana leaf, and hand lettering! Want to see cake + invite inspiration from the past year? Pop on over to this post, which features gold foil, along with vibrant brush strokes!

Now, onto the cakes + cards!

agate wedding cake and agate invitation

TRENDS: Stone/Agate, Marble, Metallics

Marble is everywhere these days, and we love that it’s truly a trend that’s built to last. It comes in so many color ways — white + gray, watercolor hues, jet black — and it is often mixed with a sprinkling of metallics or even geodes, we’re pretty keen on this one! Seen above is the Simple Agate wedding invitation by Petra Kern for Minted.

Pink Wedding Cake and Invitation

TRENDS: Monochromatic, Pastels, Dramatic Florals, Rose Gold

Who else loves rose gold as much as we do?? We’re majorly crushing on the luxe addition of the rose gold foil, seen on the Folio wedding invitation by Kristie Kern for Minted. In addition to that, many are opting for a monochromatic palette — so when you pick a color (be it blue, green, pink, or gray, etc.), you stay within that color spectrum, but change up the saturation. This adds a nice contrast with the lighter and darker versions of the color.

Tropical Palm Cake and Wedding Invitation

TRENDS: Tropical, Retro, Bold print, Banana Leaf (the new palm leaf!)

We’re talkin’ tropical!! This year, the banana leaf is making bold moves and is the new palm leaf. Inspired by retro vibes, the banana leaf pairs well with peachy + coral hues. How fun is this Tropical Wishes custom wedding invitation by Haley Warner for Minted + the matching cake?!

TRENDS: Hand Lettering, Marble, White Out

Make a statement with this bold + elegant pair. For the couple that’s got a penchant for modern + minimalistic design, we think you’ll be pretty fond of this cake + Someone Like You wedding invitation by Design Lotus for Minted!

Head on over to Minted to find an invitation suite that you fancy + have fun imagining all the cool cake designs! We can’t wait to see what wedding design choices you make + how the invitation is incorporated throughout the day!
