Australian Kangaroo Valley Wedding: Marissa + Alex

australian wedding

Marissa + Alex’s elegant Australian camp wedding took place at a gorgeous retreat in the Kangaroo Valley and included just enough rustic, yet beautiful, details to dress up the natural setting. And as you’ll soon see, these two have some serious style – oh, and they are also talented photographers! Love Alex’s super dapper look, which he pieced together with carefully selected department store finds, and Marissa rocked not one, but two, jaw-droppingly gorgeous dresses – just wait until you see them! Here’s more from Marissa about the inspiration behind their wedding day:

For us, the style of our wedding was a natural extension of what our life looks like. Owning our own homewares store also has it’s own perks, this meant we had easy access to styling pieces we already love and even use in our home. We are obsessed with the following – plywood, anchors, giant jenga, fairy lights, photos, video, gold, navy, burgundy, succulents, pine cones + good food, and made sure all these made an appearance. We wanted our day to be fun and relaxed with a touch of adventure. Being set in the Australian bush, it was easy to draw inspiration from our surrounds in the Kangaroo Valley, we had a slight school/summer camp theme happening throughout, we even had custom made scout patches for our guests. Most of all we made sure we had enough time to soak it all in and spend plenty of time with our friends and family.

Thank you so much to Dan O’ Day for the stunning images + big congrats to Marissa + Alex!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

During the ceremony when we kissed a big wind gust came sweeping thought the bush cathedral, we both didn’t even realise it happened until all our guests started speaking about it, and was not until a few weeks after when we saw our photos and video we could see the magical, goose bump moment. We later found out that the cathedral is an aboriginal women’s spiritual place and the wind gust is a special “spirit blessing”.....crazy hey!

Loving this new trend of life-size Jenga at weddings (you might remember seeing it also in this wedding), so fun right?!

I’m pretty obsessed with the incredible green sequin gown Marissa chose for the reception. Doesn’t she look amazing?
