A Georgia Elopement: Jodi + Jeth

Jodi + Jeth loved the idea of a private ceremony with just the two of them from the moment they got engaged. They live in Kansas, but when they found Fair Havens Plantation Bed and Breakfast in Athens, Georgia, they knew it was the perfect location – and they had never even been to Georgia in their life! Love that they took a trip to a totally new place for their elopement. Jodi wanted a kind of 1920′s vintage feel to their day and chose a vintage dress + hair accessory from etsy. And yes, they have promised their friends and family a big party at home also to include them in the celebration too. :) Congrats to Jodi + Jeth and thanks to Amy Arrington for the gorgeous photos!

I love that her bouquet was a single magnolia flower that was picked that morning from the giant magnolia tree by the house.

Most memorable moment of your wedding day? Mine was during the ceremony. It was the way Jeth was looking at me. Jeth says his favorite moment was when he found the big magnolia flower and brought it to me. We both remember how nice it was to hear thunder that morning. It rained all day and finally stopped that evening, just in time for photos and the ceremony.

The cake was topped with a gorgeous edible flower and accented with cute edible buttons, all from Andie’s Specialty Sweets. Underneath the icing, her cake was blue – fun!

From Jeth, Why wouldn’t we elope?? Well Jeth, I have to agree with you, why not?! Your day looked perfect. :)

Any advice for those planning now? Try to focus on what’s significant to the two of you, and not on what’s expected or what’s been done before. And if you’re looking online for a dress or shoes or whatever, I suggest leaving the word “wedding” out of your search. Why limit yourself?

Congrats Jodi + Jeth and thanks for sharing your intimate day with us!

  1. I love the fun eclectic look the bride took on: she rocked it

  2. how unique is her headdress! gorgeous photography too!

  3. Jodi, you look amazing, but those shoes just made my heart flutter a bit!

I live about 30 minutes outside of Athens, GA. It’s a beautiful area and I’m glad you found somewhere special to say your “I do’s.” Fair Havens is just lovely.

  4. LOVE LOVE LOVE! My husband and I eloped…best decision we ever made together. :) It makes me sad that there isn’t enough coverage of elopements on wedding blogs and never enough comments! I think true love shines through so much more in pictures when a couple elopes than a couple who has a more traditional wedding and therefore so much more on their minds at the time the photos are taken. Anyway! Love the gorgeous photos and the vintage vibe…they look so happy and in love! <3

  5. I absolutely love that last image. And that is probably the loveliest wedding I have seen in a long time. The headpiece! Wow. Fab photography and a gorgeous couple. Top marks and multiple thumbs up. x

  6. Congratulations Jodi & Jeth! This is so lovely to see. precious, relaxed and special. And I love you still had a proper cake!
I’m a wedding photographer myself and also a bride to be. We have made the decision to elope to a place we have never been before too.
It’s so inspiring to see this wedding and it brings to mind the kind of qualities I want in my own day: intimacy, peace, a connection with the landscape, and a focus on our relationship & the commitment we are making. We want a day that is like this one magical, intimate, relaxed and individual.

  7. Thank you so much everyone! Our day was amazing, and we had it all to ourselves! It was incredible, and we were so lucky to have found such a great photographer to capture it all!

Polly – congratulations and best wishes for your elopement!!!

  8. I LOVE that they had their elopement photographed. I think a LOT of people do not think about it! I do not get to photograph enough elopements!
