In keeping with today’s Oz movie theme, this next styled shoot is all about the 30’s and glamour from the new movie! The team mixed shiny + metallic golds (so on trend!) with an abundance of greenery to bring each detail to life – it was truly living art! The tablescape imagined a dinner on a magical forest floor, with lush ferns and curly willows…
The gorgeous accessories and styling is by hushedCOMMOTION
As the accessories designer, Thea had a lot of the head pieces and belts imagined and available to pull from her collection, many of them new pieces from her 2013 line which already had a 30’s flair to it. She consulted with a good friend of hers, Rebecca Schone, of Schone Design who makes modern wedding dresses with vintage inspiration. She choose a lace beaded number that was detailed without being over the top, along with a blush silk charmeuse gown that had a glorious low back – a true vintage staple. The last look was a flirty short number with a high lace neckline and luxorious silk velvet coat.
One of our favorite parts was creating details like the hand made hot air balloon prop, a wicker basket spray painted gold, a hug balloon and some gorgeous flowers – voila! An easy and fun prop/center piece.
The Wythe hotel has their own in house catering and pastry chefs, so we worked with them on the little treats for the table and the cake. Gold doughnuts?! A malachite inspired cake with a gold tree stand?! Just stunning.
The shoot was done in the Main Event Hall of Wythe Hotel, which opened in 2012 on the Williamsburg waterfront in Brooklyn, New York. Originally built as a cooperage in 1901, Wythe features many beautifully preserved details of the building’s industrial character – including original pine beams, masonry, arched windows and cast-iron columns. The Main Event Hall can host up to 250 guests, and can be used for both seated dinners and cocktail receptions. All catering is done in-house through Reynard, Andrew Tarlow’s ground-floor restaurant. The menu, from Chef Sean Rembold, features seasonal, market-driven local American fare.
