Warm Moroccan Inspired Elopement in the Canadian Desert

Moroccan Inspired Elopement

Do you want all the *Moroccan vibes* without actually eloping to Morocco? It can be done! Claire Friesen of Doxa Photography perfectly encapsulated the unparalleled warmth + charm of the Moroccan desert, and captured it at Camp Wolf Willow in Saskatchewan, Canada.

We’ve never seen a desert quite like this one! With terraced hills overlooking the river + sand-bordered, flowing ravines, this site offered a romance-soaked backdrop for a wind swept elopement. Claire shares design details…and they’re dripping with Moroccan style inspiration:

This barefoot reception feast, under the warmth of the desert sun, had an abundance of dried florals cascading from a cabana laden with silks. A bountiful feast of hand kneaded pitas, hummus, fresh fruits + vegetables, aromatic spices, teas, and wines complimented the carefully articulated, vibrant tablescape. We had Turkish tea canteens, vintage wine decanters, golden tableware, and linens of all sorts, including a silk table drape with hand-written vows, calligraphed by Paper Ocelot.

Ready to stroll through the sand with us? Let’s see the elopement from Doxa Photography’s lens!

This Moroccan tablescape literally overflows with curated vintage platters, trays, candlesticks and glassware; not to mention, the sandy Arabic rugs + mismatched pottery.

Are you feeling this Moroccan style? The tablescape looks like it’s been pulled right from a Tangier market.

A Sunset Ceremony

Hawthorn Floral Atelier played up the desert prairie by using dried palm leaves + pampas grass for the ceremony backdrop. With just a few pops of Moroccan warmth in the floral blooms, what else do you need?! Oh, a beautiful desert sunset.
