This Wedding Inspiration Highlights Colorado’s Unexpected Desert Vibes

Colorado Desert Wedding Inspiration

Quick: what comes to mind when you think of Colorado? Majestic mountains? Snowy excursions? Quiet sunrises and nights by the fire? There is certainly nothing to complain about there, but what about the lesser known aspects? That’s what the team behind today’s wedding inspiration shoot set out to feature. Think less “larger than life,” and more “unassumingly gorgeous” and you’ve got the idea. Levi Tijerina, the brilliant photographer behind the day, fills us in on the details:

We wanted to put together a shoot in Colorado that highlighted the amazing yet really subtle things that our state has to offer. The mountains are so overstated and grand; the ‘high end’ element of Aspen and the Mountain Towns are also very expected—so we instead planned a reception at a former dive bar and did the ceremony in a quiet spot in the desert foothills. We wanted to evoke feelings of simplicity and elegance and we specifically chose these locations to highlight how Colorado doesn’t need or require mountain elegance to be amazing. With simple florals, intentional design, and the right team, we could make incredible things.

And that, they did. Ready for a day in the desert? Let’s go!

Love her dress? We thought so! It’s by Rue De Seine from Denver’s a&be Bridal Shop! And he suited up handsomely in ASOS, don’t you think?

Waters Flowers designed and planned the day, creating some seriously inspiring floral elements. Here’s the story:

Playing off of one of the locations for the shoot, the desert formations, we wanted to focus on the simplicity of color — pairing down the florals to mostly white with a touch of red and terra cotta. We used dried palm leaves, date palms, copious amounts of sweet pea, ranunculus, and garden roses. All perfect for a spring wedding! With the installation in Colorado Springs, we wanted to make sure the florals didn’t take away but added to the overall atmosphere of the ceremony. We decided to use pampas grass and an assortment of dried leaves shipped to us from our friends at Caribbean Cuts in New York.
