When dreaming up their ideal wedding day, Candice + Joe knew they wanted a down-to-earth fete where their guests could mingle, dance, drink and, all around, just have a good time. This lead them to plan the ultimate backyard wedding celebration, filled with bright, beautiful blooms (thanks to Wildflower San Clemente), stylish boho furniture from Found Rentals, and a laid back, yet eclectic, vibe – and we’re guessing their day will inspire all those of you who are hoping for the same!
Candice shares, We decided on doing a backyard wedding because we knew that by doing so, we could really make the day our own. From the decor, to the food and drinks, everything we planned was a reflection of us as a couple. With a backyard wedding you can really do this, nothing is generic, and I love that.
Thanks so much to Ashley Paige for all the pretty photos below and to All in the Detail Design for the killer event styling + planning! As you’ll see in just a sec, this wedding is perfect for a beautiful summer Friday like today! Let’s check it out…
Candice owns a vintage clothing company with her sister called When Decades Collide, so style is definitely important to her! Her wedding day look was just as perfect as can be, and we love this shot of her wearing her gorgeous Rue De Seine Zara dress!
The most memorable has to be the ceremony. Since we have been together for 10 years, when we finally were announced as husband and wife, it was such a special moment.
This bright, cheerful peony and ranunculus bouquet was just right for the happy occasion!
Guests dined on yummy eats straight off of the Kogi BBQ truck; too perfect for a laid back backyard wedding, right?!
Ashley Paige shares, They decorated with hundreds of uniquely potted succulents and bright colorful florals. The long picnic style wood tables with string lights to set the mood were the perfect fit for a backyard celebration. The guests were very excited about the free flowing Moscow mules served in traditional copper mugs and the yummy tacos from the taco truck that pulled right up to the driveway to serve everyone! This wedding was nothing short of authentic and I suggest thinking about a backyard wedding to anyone who wants to throw a rad wedding and spend more on making it unique and personal rather than spending thousands on a reception venue.
Hire a wedding planner. Since we were planning a backyard wedding where basically everything needed to be rented versus having a wedding at a venue, a wedding planner was a must. From the planning to the actual wedding day, she made sure everything ran smoothly. Its definitely worth the money, time and stress!
