We think themed weddings kinda get a bad rap these days. And that’s precisely why, when we see a themed wedding done totally right, we get pretty excited about it! Jennifer + Joshua threw an amazing, Star Wars inspired celebration at loftSeven Los Angeles. The beautifully modern space, with views overlooking the skyline, was a blank canvas – perfect for a DIY wedding with elegant details and, of course, plenty of Star Wars touches. Which btw was Jennifer’s choice, not Joshua’s, you guys!
Jennifer says, From the moment we started planning, my now-husband and I decided that we wanted our wedding to be intimate, fun, and a reflection of who we are as a couple. In terms of the details and decor, we tried to create an atmosphere that was whimsical, romantic, and modern. Since I’m a lifelong Star Wars fan, I knew I had to incorporate my fandom into some of the wedding details. The cherry on top for both of us was getting Stormtroopers from the 501st Legion to be a part of the wedding. It was an absolute dream come true!
Thanks so much to Cacá Santoro Photography for these super fun + beautiful images from the day and big congrats to J + J!
J wore a SUPER fun Star Wars belt for the reception. Isn’t it awesome?
We love Jennifer’s bouquet by Primary Petals! That Dahlia! And the desert-y touches of thistle and succulent are so, so pretty.
From photographer, Cacá Santoro, Guests were greeted by two Stormtroopers upon arrival, who also escorted the bride up to the entrance of the aisle and guarded the entire ceremony; the Stormtroopers also escorted the bride and groom during their portrait session on the streets of downtown LA (which was quite a fun experience) and at their grand entrance at the reception.
Processional: Bridal Chorus – Wagner (Played live by String Quartet)
Recessional: Star Wars Main Theme – John Williams
First Dance: Banana Pancakes – Jack Johnson
Such fun portraits with the Stormtrooper ‘escorts’!!
Additional Star Wars inspired details were spread throughout the reception: table names, coasters, the cake, J + J’s chair decorations and lightsabers on the dance floor!
Keeping a sense of elegance was key. When you throw a themed wedding with quirk or kitsch, also including a lot of pretty elements is the way to go!
It was during the reception when my husband and I finally sat down to eat dinner. As we looked around the room, we saw family members & friends chatting and laughing, and everyone coming together over a delicious meal. I remember my husband and I taking it all in and then turning to each other and just smiling because we both felt so loved and grateful to have all our family and friends there celebrating with us. It was such a surreal moment for us and also the perfect way to begin our new life together!
Perhaps the greatest surprise of all was when Jennifer’s dad dressed up as Darth Vader and entered the dance floor looking for his daughter (complete with Darth Vader breathing and Star Wars sound effects)! So, so fun!

If you're going to have any DIY elements to your wedding, start prepping early! Getting a head start on those projects will not only make you feel less stressed, you'll also enjoy the process more. Also, don't be afraid to ask for help! Your family and friends will be more than happy to assist you and you'll definitely need the extra hands if you're making your own wedding decorations. Not to mention, it's a fun way to spend time together!

OMG, what a theme. Love the groom’s style. Great photography.
This is SO beautifully done! Amazing!
I have no words for how awesome this wedding is. <3
This wedding was very elegant and fun. Jack and I had such a blast being involved!
I absolutely heart this wedding, the details are amazing and the couple are lush xxx
My fiance and I are both geeks (Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Zelda, comic books, etc!) and we are also trying to incorporate our fandoms into our wedding, but in a classy way. It’s rare to see it done like this – I feel like too often, when I search for geeky wedding inspiration, I find the full-on costume weddings, which are totally fine if that’s what you want! But I think you run the risk of alienating any guests who aren’t fans. We want to throw a wedding where people feel like they’re at a wedding, but there are some tastefully incorporated geeky touches for anyone who’s also a nerd. It’s great to see a wedding in the same vein like this. Also, I love the idea of lightsabers on the dance floor!!
GWS said it perfectly that Jennifer and Joshua’s wedding was a themed wedding done totally right. It was fun and above all represented who they are and their elegant taste. I loved to be part of it and have the privilege to capture it all!
Ah! This is such a fantastic feature and was SUCH a fun wedding to be a part of! HUGE thanks so Caca Santoro for letting me assist… what a fantastic couple and beautiful day! Thanks for featuring, GWS!

Thanks Kate! We actually sent them the feature also since we knew their readers would love it also :)
This is absolutely amazing. When brides or clients ask me how they can incorporate their personality and keep the event elegant, this couple is a perfect example I can offer them. Not only were their touches of Star Wars simple….but they were elegant! Great Job!!
This is just so beautiful and amazing! I want to incorporate Doctor Who details in my wedding cause that show is such a special part of my life, and weedings like Jennifer and Joshua’s keep me inspired and positive that something geeky yet elegant can be done. Best wishes to the happy couple!
Stunning wedding- so clever to incorporate something like Star Wars- who wouldve guessed it world work so well!
This isn’t the gallery you’re looking for! ( Jedi Hand Movement ) Such an awesome wedding!

Great use of white throughout this wedding, especially the Bride’s dress which looks fab – fit for a princess. Groom’s outfit is groovy too.
Love all the Storm Trooper shots , in particular, the one walking down the road.
A great, fun wedding. The force was certainly with them on their big day.
Amazing freak wedding!!
Ohhhhhh my days this is freaking AWESOME. Beautiful styled, perfectly photographed, and looks like a BRILLIANT day. Congrats and well done to everyone involved!
Gorgeous photos and as a huge fan of Star Wars I love the theme!
Amazing themed wedding – really well thought out, everything looks great and it’s well captured. Bet the photographer had a smile on their face!
My daughter is looking for the wedding belt that you wore she loves it. Where did you find the stormtrooper?
That star wars belt is just amazing :o
Fantastic wedding. I hope they will name their first son LUKE.
the force is strong with that couple. The stormtroopers looked ace. I am a huge fan of star wars too!
so interesting and unique. Looks like very exceptionally
There is nothing I love more than a couple who pick a theme and take it to the max degree. These photos are fun and just full of personality. Love the work.
I am currently planning my star wars theme wedding … The flower girl princess Leia inspired dresses and belts were phenomenal !!! How did you make the belts?
I’m surprised there wasnt any photoshopped in AT-AT walkers, or blaster fire with movie effects anywhere :) That would have been fun. But looks like a wonderful day nonetheless. :D
Love these themed weddings great work
Very nice wedding bouquet, also liked the idea with Star Wars soldiers :) Were they the groom’s cousins? The wedding table is decorated very tastefully and is not overloaded with details. Ideal :)
Elegant modern wedding, love everything about this wedding! Every detail. Hope to see more.
