When Pantone’s color of the year announced, Jeanette at Party Crush Studio was a bit taken back. Ultra Violet? How could you work that into event design and wedding schemes, especially with it being so bold? She decided to conquer the fear of bold + bright colors, which was then channeled into today’s romantic + ethereal editorial! Teaming up with Olivia Richards Photography, the two decided to redefine bright colors and combine the ultra violet hue with modern romance and bohemian elements.
Jeanette tells us: When thinking about planning a shoot, textile is about the first thing that comes in mind as I own Party Crush Studio, a modern textile linen company. I usually revolve the design of my shoots around my love for plant-dyed, hand-dyed, and raw material. My hope and purpose behind this shoot was to showcase another side of Ultra Violet that often goes unnoticed… using a beautiful natural pigment called anthocyanin, which is one of my newest dyes, we created an array of different purple hues. To help coordinate the shoot we enlisted the help of Courtney from Events by Courtney Ann to help with the planning so we could focus on our most favorite part the design and styling.
Let’s take a look at the ultimate ultra violet editorial at Olympia’s Valley Estate, shall we?
The Outfits
Who doesn’t love a high neck gown? This stunner is from Kinsley James.
The groom donned shades of gray (courtesy of The Black Tux) to round out the purple palette.
The Florals
Can we talk about that incredible twisted braid by Camille Goldston?! SO GOOD! Definitely saving that hair inspiration for later…
Tara from Freckled Floral created the most extravagant bouquet and floral displays, pairing hydrangeas with peonies and an array of other stunning florals, for the editorial. Party Crush Studio added in their dyed silk velvet ribbons to go with the different shades of purple hues.
The Secret Garden
To redefine the color, the focus was on layering textures and the different shades of purple with white to exaggerate each hue and make them pop.
A touch of whimsy + a whole lot of texture…
The Tablescape
For the tablescape, Party Crush Studio sourced all the items from weekend trips to the flea market.
Elegant, with just a touch of whimsy. The cake by Batter Up Cakery featured just a touch of silver leaf foiling, and a slight ombré-effect.
By the Lake
So, we were already enchanted by the florals we saw above… and then we saw this! Our jaws dropped. A canoe full of flowers? Dreamy!
Is it weird to say that we would totally get married on this canoe…?
Well done, team, well done!!
Dig all these ultra violet hues as much as us? We put together this DIY so you can create your own ultra violet ombré veil!
