Nicholas and I have been together for 10 years. They have been the best 10 years of my life. He is my rock. When you are round Nicholas, you just can’t help but have a good time!
And that they did! After 10 years of dating, Jordan + Nicholas tied the knot in a colorful bohemian wedding at the Eastbank Lounge + Venue in Cedar Rapids, IA. Their day was jam-packed with fun colors (like magenta bridesmaids), bohemian styling + their spirited personalities in every little detail.
Jordan’s warm, colorful spirit shines as she tells us inspiration for the day, and how they made their wedding personal: Nicholas and I are a very unique couple, we do not like the ordinary…we like different! So many details from our day described who we are as people and things we enjoy in our life. At our reception sign-in table, we had guests sign records from artists that Nicholas + I enjoy listening to. This was something that meant a lot to us, and we now have the records hung in our house for many years to come. Donuts are one of my favorite breakfast foods, so of course, we had a donut bar for our guests! I also love unique vintage items so adding some of those décor pieces into the wedding day was special to me; like my Grandmother’s buffet that we put the donuts on.
We’re ALL ABOUT those sweet, meaningful details. Let’s get a comprehensive look at J + N’s wedding day, compliments of Olivia Markle Photography:
You’re Like Really Pretty
Jordan rented out the cutest hair salon in downtown Cedar Rapids for her + the gals to get ready in that morning. We particularly love this wavy bohemian bridal hairstyle with a fierce fat braid. Well done, La Belle Boutique + Beauty Lounge!
Jordan got her Chic Nostalgia gown from Vera’s House of Bridals. It’s rimmed in florals and truly radiates bohemian romance. The magical full skirt of crinkle silk falls from the waist and is finished with a deep flowy ruffle… Clearly, this gown comes to life with motion!
How lush + colorful is that bridal bouquet from Afloral? We love the boldness of playing with this range of pinks + oranges.
Magenta Maids
Jordan arranged for her bridesmaids to rock flower hoop bouquets, so they can reuse them as decoration after the wedding. Any DIY queens out there who are into this look?!
Okay, we need to get the scoop on these rad magenta maids! Jordan fills us in on her vision for the wedding party attire: Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love jumpsuits! I knew when I started planning that I wanted my girls to wear jumpsuits + hats. Did they kill it, or what!? Finding a jumpsuit for all of them was a challenge that I was up for! First, I wanted to make sure all my girls felt comfortable in them; and hopefully could get more than 1 use out of the jumpsuits.
Originally, I wanted to wear a jumpsuit instead of a wedding dress (yes, that is how much I love jumpsuits), but I ended up deciding to wear a dress because it’s a once in a lifetime dress. I opted to rock a jumpsuit while getting ready the morning-of. This jumpsuit fit me like a glove, and made me feel so beautiful + comfortable in my own skin. My wedding dress was everything I ever dreamed it to be! Very bohemian, but still flowy so that I could dance the night away with my husband (!!).
Colorful Ceremony in the Park
J + N got married in a sweet, green park right outside the city; decorated with bohemian rugs, hanging lanterns + some pretty pink and neutral colors adorning the ceremony ring.
Processional: Can’t Help Falling in Love by Kina Grannis, and A Thousand Years by The Piano Guys
Recessional: Marry You by Bruno Mars
First Dance: Stand By Me by Ben King
A ‘Lil Modern-Boho Downtown Reception
This colorful Volkswagen van was the talk of the party and had people turning their heads in downtown Cedar Rapids!
Enjoy the planning process because it goes by so fast! Try not to stress about the little things and don’t be afraid to ask for help! Make choices for the two of you, not anyone else. When I go to weddings, I love seeing the unique ideas couples have that are different from most other weddings. It is YOUR DAY!
A Colorful Sendoff
Having everyone we love and care about the most in one room with us! Our wedding brought everyone that we love closer together, opened up our hearts + deepened our appreciation for all the beautiful people in our lives that have given us love and support for the last 10 years. We were so lucky and had the most beautiful weather (75 and sunny) for an August day in Iowa. Nicholas and I together decided that we wanted to share our vows in front of all of our loved ones at the ceremony. As I was reading my vows in front of everyone the microphone stopped working and I knew at this moment I couldn't panic I had to be strong. I gave Nicholas a smile and finished my vows with my robust strong heart. This reminded me that we are stronger together with one another because I'm not sure if I could have done it without him by my side. The confetti cannon exit was SO EPIC!!! At that moment, we felt so loved and surrounded by so many beautiful people that matter so much to us. I remember Nicholas looking at me and me thinking this was by far the best day of our lives!
Robbie Films caught this magical day in the Midwest, and (trust us) we’ll continue to pull inspo from these two. Congrats J + N from GWS!
