Nature-Filled Los Angeles Wedding at Vibiana: Laarni + Malvin

Los Angeles Nature Wedding

Laarni + Malvin are the kind of couple who beat to the sound of their own drum, so the fact that their wedding felt like circus-meets-forest fantasy was, indeed, a perfect fit. Every detail reflected their personalities + the enviable jewel-toned palette made the space at Vibiana (also featured in our Top 26 Coolest Places to Get Married) feel both dramatic + whimsical. Below, L + M share more about themselves and the inspiration behind their day:

We are an eclectic duo. We like so many different things. We also have kid-like imaginations and see the world as our playground.  We wanted to spoil our guests with a unique experience but at the same time make sure our personalities showed through in all the detail. “Unique, Quirky, and Contagiously Fun” were the words we used every time we met with a vendor. The basic idea behind our inspiration is that we love all things dark and twisted but with a whimsical touch.

Thanks so much to In The Now Weddings for the gorgeous planning + design, Art With Nature for the stunning florals + Mark Brooke for the beautiful images!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

The entire day felt like one unforgettable moment. After months of planning, seeing all the details materialize and all come together beautifully was exciting to experience. Perhaps it was the first time stepping into the ceremony and how our Father Charles was able to get our guests to participate in “marrying” us. We thought that maybe only half of our guests would attend the ceremony portion but it was a full house. It was crazy to see all those people there just for us. We were completely humbled by the love that was bestowed onto us. Many married couples will tell you about how fleeting the whole ordeal is – and there is truth to that. To us, what made it memorable is how our loved ones even a year later will remind us of their favorite parts or moments. The fact that the entire day created so many special memories for so many people basically validated the reason for throwing this spectacular affair.

Laarni + Malvin had 550 guests in attendance, so getting creative with details, like escort cards, was important. We love this display, using a library card catalog from Found Rentals, to house the seating plan in a really fun way!

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Do what makes you happy and have fun! Your folks will forgive you eventually if you go against the grain. Come up with a handful of adjectives that describe the two of you and infuse that into a theme that will help in your design. Expect surprises to happen and prepare to embrace them – they usually become some of the most exciting and memorable parts of the celebration.

Hire a good team and trust the process. We were lucky that our planner was great friends with a lot of our vendors. Not only did we see our family and friends having fun the day of but everyone who helped make this event possible seemed to be enjoying themselves as well.
