Raise your hand if you LOVE Free People (*raises both hands*)! Today’s darling bride, Kara, works at Free People’s showroom in Downtown LA, and it served as a major player in designing her and Kevin’s dream day. Event designers, Crosby & Jon, stopped by the showroom to experience Kara’s style, with the goal of creating a wedding as beautiful and forward-thinking as this young couple.
With no shortage of inspiration, Crosby & Jon began by mixing patterns and textures in a color-saturated palette, and applied this aesthetic to the florals, the furnishings, and the custom-made linens. To bring all of their modern + boho ideas together, they brought in gorgeous pieces from Archive Rentals. The location? None other than Higuera Ranch in San Luis Obispo (affectionately known as SLO).
Ready to experience this Free People-inspired wedding, cooly captured by Lauren Scotti? Let’s take a peek!
The Bridesmaids
How darling are all these ladies?! Love the matching getting ready robes? Here are a few of our faves:
Isn’t she the CUTEST? Kara is ROCKING that off-the-shoulder Rue de Seine gown.
Talk about blushin’ bridesmaids! You can snag those gowns (in a variety of different styles) from Show Me Your Mumu.
The Ceremony Space
A little backstory: Kara and Kevin started dating while performing in an 9th grade musical at Orange County School of the Arts, and they have been an adorable couple ever since. Flash-forward to adulthood, Kevin is now on his way to becoming a doctor, while Kara works as a brand representative for Free People in Los Angeles.
WOOHOO!
With rolling hills and a lush green vineyard, it comes as no surprise as to why they chose this location!
The Newlyweds
So, so sweet!
Cocktails + Lounge
After the vows, the party kicked-off with a cocktail hour under the ranch’s 100-year-old fig tree.
The Reception + Tablescape
Hello, rose gold accents + golden light! Spirits were high as friends and family found their seats at long rustic wood tables, highlighted by rose gold chairs from Archive Rentals.
Vintage goblets in amethyst, amber and mauve were added to complement Siren Floral Co’s exquisite centerpieces of Coral Charm peonies, Quicksand roses, and violet wild flowers.
At each place setting, guests found their names on a dip-dyed name cards from Hannah Schwartz stationer, along with a little cactus in a pot decoupaged in boho fabric scraps — a DIY favor from Kara and her mom.
So many different linens lined the tables… How we’d love to make throws or cushions out of those post-wedding!
For the table, Crosby + Jon started with a base of custom patterned runners, sourced from local fabric markets by Kara and her bridesmaids (so fun!). For the tabletop, they took a clean modern approach, with the use of ivory stoneware and rose gold flatware.
Little crystals topped this elegant cake by Paper Cake Events. We’re particularly fond of that dusty rose hue on the bottom layer! After the cake was cut, guests enjoyed the dessert + toasted marshmallows over a fire.
Oh, we’re ALL about this celebration. K+K, you two are ROCKSTARS! Congrats!!
