Modern Elegant Georgia Wedding: Emily + Jon

wedding party

A little more than a year before Emily + Jon’s wedding, they moved to Sweden from Athens, Georgia. But they wanted to celebrate their love back home, with all of their closest friends + fam, who were by their sides as their relationship grew. They kept things simple and hosted an intimate, modern-meets-elegant wedding at a beautiful Georgia chapel, followed by a fun reception at the Georgia Museum of Art. And in the end, their day felt like the best-ever homecoming; a big celebration of the Athens part of their lives!

Thanks so much to Heidi of Our Labor of Love for sharing these super gorge images with us today + big congratulations to Emily + Jon!

Doesn’t Emily’s bouquet, by Rosegolden Flowers, have the softest, sweetest feel? Loving all the romantic, muted hues!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

We had pretty strict restrictions on our options for the final getaway at the end of the reception so we decided we would just walk out and say good bye to everyone, but as we walked outside there were floodlights lighting up a gorgeous 1960's car. One of our ushers had secretly set it up with the wedding coordinator and it was a huge surprise!

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Since we were planning from a distance it was important for me to hire someone local to help. Kristine from Simply Charming Socials helped keep me on track time-wise and was great for reminding me of things I wouldn't have thought about. She also served as a day-of coordinator, something I can't recommend highly enough. No bride should be thinking about anything other than spending time with her guests and enjoying the day.

Finally, it was really important for me to really trust that all my vendors "got" my vision so that I could relax and let them do their jobs. I was so happy with the outcome and was able to enjoy it all.
