Minimalistic Winter Elopement at a Modern Art Museum

Canada Winter Elopement

There’s a good chance you already know our love + affinity for doing all things creatively, especially when it comes to weddings… We’re in the camp of “no rules + break tradition;” we believe that you should have a wedding that celebrates the love you and your partner share and do it however which way you want. Well, for those that are eloping — there’s an even greater sense of freedom. It’s easier to take off together — travel to wherever you want — and have an intimate ceremony in a place that normally wouldn’t allow a crowd.

Andrea + Andrew took advantage of this, and boy, with the help of Spread Love Events, it made for one epic adventure! The Audain Art Musuem, nestled in the heart of Whistler village in B.C., Canada looks like something out of a fairytale… The museum is exceptionally modern and minimal, while the surroundings are dotted with mountain chalets (and when dusted with snow — it’s even more magical!). The two chose to elope in a favorite escape of theirs, surrounded by nature, so that they could focus on each other and be in the present moment. Is there anything better than that?

Ready to be swept away in the photos by Rebecca and Lindsey? Let’s look!

Doesn’t this place look absolutely divine? Like something out of a fairytale…

A few subtle details, such as Andrea’s rust colored J. Crew velvet shoes (pictured below) and the custom stationery by Spread Love Events, drove the design. We adore the playful pops of color to contrast + complement the minimalism of the art museum.

Andrea and Andrew began the day getting ready together at the Four Seasons Whistler. They enjoyed coffee on the deck and helped each other get ready. After a leisurely morning in the hotel, Andrea and Andrew set off for the Art Museum just before closing…

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Getting ready together before. It's unconventional, but we choose to spend a relaxed morning together. It extended the celebration and allowed us to be really present in the day, and truly embrace the occasion of our elopement.

Keeping with the minimalist + modern venue, Andrea donned an elegant Rue De Seine from Union Bridal. Andrew looked extra sharp in his classic tux by The Tux Store.

How gorgeous is this space? With the big windows to let in light… Not to mention the snow-covered trees! For couples wanting a clean + modern wedding in a mountain town, The Audain Art Museum in Whistler may just be your go-to!

No surprise here — the tablescape was also minimalistic, simple, and ultra cool.

The final pop of color for the day — florals by Celsia Floral!

Andrea shares: We wanted to have the opportunity to focus on each other, our vows, and the commitment we are making to each other. We also had a traditional larger city wedding with family and friends, but this was an opportunity to focus on each other and be in the moment.
