Mid-Century Glam Desert Wedding: Nic + Iain

Mid Century Modern Wedding

Today’s wedding is filled with so many things we love: sequins, the desert, mid-century details, gorgeous blooms, good food (and sweets!) and a fun + untraditional vibe. Nic, the talented gal who owns Nic Roc Designs, married her Irish love, Iain, at the cutest spot in San Diego, California, The Pearl Hotel, and the details you’re about to see are just so good! They worked with Tawnee of Urban Shindigs to bring together bits of their backgrounds + personalities to create the perfect atmosphere for celebrating their love – and we truly adore how it all turned out. Nic says, Our wedding was definitely details based, so if you know us, then you’d get everything you saw or heard.

We love that! She goes on to share, I’m not a traditional person by any means. So it was no surprise to my now hubby and all of our friends and family members when I wore a green sequin gown on our wedding day. I definitely wanted to pay homage to a combination of my non-traditional ways mixed with the light of my Irishman, Iain, (legit from Ireland, accent and all). Green for the Luck o’ the Irish!

Big thanks to Gantes Co. for the beautiful images below!

Desiree Logue-Champagne of Penny Blooms crafted the most perfect protea + bougainvillea bouquet for Nic. ♥

If you know us then you know we’re obsessed with Nic’s dress of choice, a green sequin Badgley Mischka frock from Saks Fifth Avenue. Her bridesmaids sparkled by her side, also Badgley Mischka, from Rent The Runway.

Our wedding ceremony took place in a desert setting. The Desert Garden, a nature conservancy in San Diego, California at Balboa Park. Side note: we were the first and last couple to ever be married here. The desert vibe was a must because I think it tells a very different story of what San Diego means to me and the Irish. People think of California as a beach town, lots of palm trees, tank tops and flip flops. Thus, when our guests flew in from Ireland, England, Australia, New York, Texas, New Mexico, Seattle, and so on, they were pretty surprised and delighted by our ceremony choice. It made for lovely photo opps and a nice evening stroll. It truly helped our friends and family to get a glimpse of the life we live in the city that we adore.

The Pearl Hotel has so many fun mid century details that we didn’t feel it was necessary to complicate the space with too many florals. My florist brought in bougainvillea for a pop of color, eucalyptus pods, King and Banksia Proteas, cotton, eucalyptus, dahlias, garden roses, air plants, and a variation of cacti, paired with DIY starbursts (made by me and the Irish), Himalayan pink salt candles, and quartz crystal slabs.

And Nic closes with how the night ended, The day was awesome! There was lots of Shenanigans that went down. Pinata hitting. Whiskey drinking, and to end the night, the Irish and I jumped into the pool. As the night went on a good amount of our guests, along with our photographer and videographers also took a dip!

Big congrats to Nic + Iain on such a stunning day!!
