Magical Marfa, Texas Elopement: Sam + My

Marfa Texas Elopement

Sam + My are the happiest duo and we love how their amazing Marfa, Texas elopement – captured beautifully by Geoff Duncan Photography – shows that off in the best of ways! When asked why an elopement felt right for them, Sam + My came up with such a sweet answer, Everything for our day revolved around the importance of each other. We live simple lives and love one another with such great depth. For our wedding, we knew an elopement was the perfect and simple way to start this journey together.

We just love that so much! My goes on to say, When Sam and I were deciding on how to get married, we made one agreement – have loads and loads of fun. We eloped in Marfa towards an adventure that brought lots of laughs. Sam and I decided to do everything we wanted that day; get ready together, take shots (and forget the veil at the hotel – oops), break in and get married in front of the tiniest church, take the “flower toss” to a whole new level, eat pizza, drink beers, enjoy pie AND cake, and at the end of it all, just learn to love each other in an excitingly new way. Mission accomplished. We love to love!!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Our favorite memory was our gut reaction to get ready and help one another prepare for our wedding day. We had long decided that a surprise reveal would be fun however on the morning of our wedding, after a hearty and delicious breakfast, we shook hands and agreed that it would be much more grand to watch one another prepare for this exciting day. From the zipping of my dress to the buttoned shirt and tie, we made it a point to help one another. This was such a special and kind moment that we wanted for the day.

We broke into (and have no remorse) the Cowboy Church – the tiniest church converted radio station (we LOVED the idea of getting married in a spiritual space that we didn’t have to take too seriously.) We got married right there, right in the front of the building next to a huge cactus and door. We loved that the church was built the same year Sam and I were born, 1986. 30 years strong and special – that’s what we all shared.

My + Sam’s pup, Mona, was with them every step of the way, which made for some pret-ty cute photo ops! (Psst, want to DIY a floral collar for your dog? Learn how right here!)

Magic Hour Marfa helped My + Sam pull together the details for their day, like their super sweet sweetheart table compete with a macrame runner + pretty florals.
