Reem + Jenai searched high and low for the perfect destination for their intimate ceremony before deciding on magical Morocco, where they said their vows just before sunset, surrounded by olive trees with the Atlas Mountains in view. Sounds totally perfect to us! And the details of the day were both beautifully styled and extremely personal; Reem and her sister are the duo behind fashion + lifestyle blog, Five Five Fabulous, and Jenai is a well-known former DJ, so he prepared all of the music for every aspect of the wedding.
Reem shared a bit of inspiration behind the day: We kept things very focused on who we are, personally. The entire vibe of the wedding had to reflect our personalities down to the flow, the music, the colours and the time of day. One of the most important decisions we made was to have one of our best friends officiate our ceremony. This meant that is was full of personal anecdotes, laughter and so much love.
Reem + Janai chose New Zealand-base photographer, James Broadbent from Chasewild, to photograph their dreamy day. Let’s have a look!
Reem and Jenai tied the knot at Palais Paysan in the middle of a Berber village, just outside of Marrakech.
The bride wore Inbal Dror and got ready with her ‘maids in robes by Agent Provocateur.
Hello, gorgeous!
The ladies absolutely GLOW in gowns by Reformation!
Reem + Jenai exchanged vows during an intimate ceremony on the property’s olive grove. Guests sat on Napoleon mahogany chairs with the olive branches above them acting as a shade. Their arch was in a circular shape, representing their new found unity, and embellished with red and pink florals by BoutiqueSouk.
Processional: There's No Place Like Home by Michael Giacchino
Recessional: By Your Side by Sade
First Dance: Nothing Can Change This Love by Sam Cooke
So sweet!
To pull it all together, a half moon made from and olive branch was added to the vanilla-praline cake.
There was a moment we had just to ourselves while our guests were guided to our dinner table and before Jenai and I made our entrance. We stood on the stairs, looking over the setting and seeing all of our friends and family find their seats. Just seeing all of the candles glistening, the sun setting in the background, and the table in all it's glory was so magical. It exceeded our expectations and looked incredible. It was at that moment we realised that our wedding was actually happening.
Marian Filali styled Reem’s soft curls and makeup–doesn’t she look beautiful?!
After the processional, guests were escorted to the Moroccan lounge, decorated with colorful carpets, low tables, Kilim poufs, and cushions, and served champagne, mojitos, flavored water and canapés.
To parallel the intimacy of their wedding, Reem and Jenai opted for a singular dining table set up by the panoramic pool. Fairy lights and lanterns were strung from the trees and hundreds of large open candles were dotted all around, setting a romantic mood for dinner.
Their 18-meter-long table was dressed with unbleached linens and adorned with tall candelabras, gold chargers, white dinner plates, gold-rimmed glassware, and hundreds of candle verrines.
We are loving the romantic tablescape! Pomegranates, pears, and figs were sprayed in gold to decorate the table and sprig of pepper tree was placed on the menu.
Reem + Jenai kept one big detail under wraps: We surprised our guests with a performance after dinner. Fire eaters created a buzzing atmosphere, just before it came to be time to cut our cake and have our first dance. It really set the scene for dinner to party.
Think very carefully about what you want to do before you start planning. We went from a big rustic wedding in the South of France to an elopement in Zanzibar before finally finding our perfect plan in Marrakech. All the indecisiveness was due to not really knowing what we wanted before starting the process, which can get quite exhausting and almost ruin the experience.
