Alana + Tyler are easygoing music-lovers from New York City who wanted their wedding day to be fun + carefree and represent who they are + the things they love most. It didn’t take them long to decide to throw a super rad destination wedding at one of their favorite getaway spots: The Ace Hotel in Palm Springs! Here’s more from Alana about how they really made their day their own:
We see a lot of live music together + are big fans of the hip decor at the Ace, so these two things became the inspiration for our big day. It was important for us to have everyone hanging out together, and the pool at the Ace was the perfect answer for this. We started the day with a morning bike ride followed by ample pool time with our guests before we had to get ready.
We didn’t have a formal wedding party. Our nieces + nephew were our “groupies” who walked down the aisle with signs that said “Here Comes Bean”. Bean is Tyler’s nickname for me and that sign was a surprise to him (he thought it would say “the bride”). The kids wore t-shirts just like the t-shirts worn by Ace staffers. Putting the kids in t-shirts not only ensured they would be comfortable but it also drove home our casual vibe since we urged guests to leave their jackets and ties at home.
I know this wedding is going to inspire you guys BIG time! I’m super in love with so many of the playful design elements, like the perfectly stocked guest welcome bags + the amazing record DJ backdrop built by Beau & Arrow Events. And huge thanks to Honey Honey Photography for sharing these gorgeous images with us today!
We set the tone with a vinyl record invitation. It was untraditional and unique. Then each of our guest tables represented one of our favorite bands with original poster designs by Yes, Dear Studio. Escort cards were different black and white polaroid photos of those bands and that’s how guests found their tables. The Band of Horses poster used an Aztec print that really resonated with the decor of the Ace so we used this print throughout all the paper elements. Instead of a guest book, we had guests sign a “band poster” personalized for our wedding which was inspired from an LCD Soundsystem poster.
How perfect is the floral design by Root 75?!
Processional: Where Is My Mind (piano cover) – The Pixies
Recessional: Could You Be Loved – Bob Marley
First Dance: Hysteric (acoustic version) – Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Congratulations, Alana + Tyler! We wish you all the best!
