Intimate Maui Destination Wedding: Brittani + Trevor

Maui Wedding

A taste of the tropics is just what we need to get us through the rest of this friday, and you can definitely bet on the fact that we’ll be dreaming about Maui all weekend long thanks to Brittani + Trevor’s gorgeous destination wedding!

We’re always curious as to why couples elect to have a destination wedding – aside from the obvious idea of exchanging their vows with a scenic, beautiful backdrop. Brittani’s explanation totally made so much sense, so we’re sharing more from her now, then it’s straight into the photos With Love & Embers captured of all the festivities! (We promise, guys, you won’t want to miss either!) Trevor wanted a huge wedding and I wanted to elope. So, we compromised and had a destination wedding and planned everything together. Maui was the perfect place because the island embodies everything we love- mountains, rain forest, ocean, jungle all of it all on one island. We are both very family oriented and wanted to make our wedding a huge once in a lifetime family vacation for everyone. It’s not every day you fly out to Hawaii with your entire family. Our motto for the wedding was to keep it simple, affordable and classy.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

The last dance. I never expected this to be the most memorable moment, but I will never forget it. Every family member and close friend we love was with us in Maui, on the dance floor, under the stars next to the ocean and dancing to “God Gave Me You”. I can count on my hand how many times I have seen Trevor cry and this was one of them. Trevor and I both soaked up every single last minute of our special day in that 3 minute song and the emotions took over. I have never felt so loved before from family, friends and my husband.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Let it go. Do not stress about anything. I think a lot of couples, especially the women, lose sight of why you are getting married in the first place. It’s easy to get wrapped up in all the little things and to continually compare your wedding plans to others. It’s not about the wedding, it’s about the love you share as a couple and becoming husband and wife. Even if everything possible goes wrong with the wedding and what you planned, remember you are getting to marry the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. Nothing can ever mess that up!

The best advice we received was to take time to soak up moments during your wedding day. It goes by so fast. Take a moment to breathe everything in and enjoy the special moments.
