We sharing some of our excitement for Hunger Games today at GWS! For our second shoot (if you missed the first one see Katniss + Peeta’s wedding inspiration here), Lindye Galloway Events wanted to channel their enthusiasm for the movie into a wedding shoot that would inspire brides who want a gloomy, yet pretty edge to their wedding. I love the thought of a shoot like this, since this book isn’t be a typical source of wedding inspiration. This just goes to show, you can be inspired by anything and incorporate it into your big day – we believe in no rules for your wedding day here at GWS! Hunger Games is all about battle and survival (I know, so sweet), and full of great symbolism. To capture the essence of the book they wanted to marry it’s theme of darkness with a pretty, symbolic wedding look.
With a forest as their backdrop, they created a ceremony setting that was rich in meaning. The structure was draped in flowing fabric, the front features a variety of ripped fabrics and rope, tied back with organic arrangements on either side. Flying up through the middle of the structure are hundreds of mini gold origami paper cranes, symbolizing the “Mockingjay” that is ever present and important in the book. A Mockingjay also rested on the groom’s vest, and the bride carried a darling little bunch of flowers fastened together with rope and buttons.
Across the reception table laid many strips of ripped fabrics with organic arrangements placed in wood bowls. Gold candlesticks were nestled between the arrangements, while each place setting had a feather napkin accessory.
Gorgeous florals by The Vine’s Leaf and rentals from favorite Found Vintage Rentals.
What do you think? Pretty gorgeous inspiration from an unlikely place, right? What other unlikely sources of inspiration would you’d like to see incorporated into a wedding shoot?

What a beautiful couple and gorgeous shoot! Love the gold paper cranes, they look stunning! Thanks for sharing.
I’d love to know where that dress came from! Its simple elegance is perfect.
The “bride’s” dress was a Melissa Sweet short gown :)
I love this shoot!!
The books are amazing, to create a themed wedding off a book, takes a great love and attention to detail. With the second movie coming out soon, more people may be inspired to create this type of wedding. The gold birds along the alter are the perfect touch.
