How to Throw a (Last-Minute) Royally Beautiful Royal Wedding Watch Party

How to Throw A Royal Wedding Watch Party
We’re always looking for any reason to host a party, and what better reason than to watch a royal wedding?! Anything that involves sweets, drinks, and what is sure to be stellar fashion is a solid day in our books. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will marry this Saturday at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor! If you don’t happen to be one of the 600 people invited, the wedding will be televised and live-streamed practically everywhere (here’s a list!) beginning as early as 4:00 a.m ET (the ceremony begins at 7:00 a.m. ET).

Yes, it’s early, but a Saturday morning with friends and scones and drinks? SO down. We had a little help crafting some party inspiration from our friends at Minted, who supplied the perfect decor, paper goods, and treats for a royally amazing viewing party! If you’re thinking, “Shoot… I don’t have enough time to get everything ready,” ditch that thought immediately since that is why we love Amazon Prime! (We’ve gathered a few must-haves that you’ll find below, which will arrive just in time.) So, first things first: let’s gather the RSVPs!

Design a Royal Invitation

Digital invitations are perfect for a last-minute party, and Minted has the cutest designs that can be delivered straight to your guests’ inbox!

Or, if you’re a paper fanatic, we love the regal design element on this crown invite!

Dress the Part

Miss Markle has some killer style and is already known for a few signature looks. It might be a bit early to go full-on Stella McCartney, but we certainly wouldn’t blame you if that’s your thing! For a more casual day, we found the cutest royal wedding tees on Etsy!

Or… Make it a Pajama Party

Given the early hour, you could forgo all the fancy outfits and slip into something a bit more comfortable… Markle is known for sporting seriously cute pajamas on Suits, so you + your gal pals could opt for a pajama party instead!

Create a Menu Fit For a Queen (or a Duchess)

An early start is the perfect opportunity to serve a traditional British tea-inspired menu! Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding cake flavor is rumored to be elderflower and lemon, so a lemon tart would be the perfect sweet treat!

If you want to put your own spin on British classics, we suggest opting for dainty cucumber tea sandwiches and some buttery scones.

Prepare the Ceremonial Drinks

Red Wine

It may be 7:00 a.m. Eastern, but it’s noon in London… meaning it’s 5:00 somewhere, right?! This is a special occasion, after all!

If the Queen drinks a dry-gin martini with lunch every day, we think it only necessary to sip on the same! Meghan’s favorite drink is red wine, specifically Tignanello. Fancy a glass or two yourself? We here at GWS are BIG fans of Winc — I mean, who doesn’t want wine delivered to their door + a can’t-miss REALLY GOOD discount on wine? Gear up for the royal wedding with this exclusive special4 bottles of wine for $30!!

And, of course, any drink gets royal status served with a foil-pressed paper cocktail napkins!

Select Wedding-Worthy Decor

Go traditional with gold-rimmed place settings and flatware. We love these Art Deco bottles as bud vases to balance out a larger center bouquet (featuring peonies, of course, in honor of Meghan’s favorite flower).

Amazon Prime is Your Best Friend

Forget shipping across the pond… any last-minute planning calls for immediate action: Amazon Prime!

Order online and have everything arrive in a day or two, or pick up all the goodies at your nearest Amazon store. (Amazon is a lifesaver for us!). We’ve gathered some major must-haves below: tea, scone mix, dainty tea cups, and more!

Entertain Your Guests

Finally, keep guests entertained with royal wedding-inspired Bingo! (WILL Meghan’s dress have sleeves?! We must know!!)

Fill a pouch with the Bingo card and glitter crown confetti to mark squares as the events unfold. Download your own Bingo card to print here! Then send guests off with a favor box filled with Union Jack cookies!
