Historic Cemetery + Vintage Details… This Wedding Inspiration is Downright Chilling!

Haunted Styled Deadwood Elopement

We’re creepin’ it real today here at GWS + heading to the historical Mount Moriah Cemetery (known for serving as the final resting place of Calamity Jane + Wild Bill Hickok). Using the historic location as inspiration, all the details for the day had a chilling vintage feeling. What’s even more fitting? The city itself is named Deadwood…

Liz of Liz Osban Photography tells us: I received a message from a past bride of mine, Emily Costopulous, and she won me over with asking if I would be interested in collaborating on a haunted styled elopement editorial with her…um, YES! Already on board was event designer, Sarah, of The Vintage LeaseMartin Mason Hotel and the stunning couple Grace and Chris. Apparently, all you have to say to me is “haunted” for me to be 100% in. Deadwood is an incredible town and in the fall was covered in lovely fog and dream light rain and the weather was just as lovely this spring.”

Are slightly spooky + haunted things up your alley? Well then, darling ghosts + ghouls, let’s take a walk through the cemetery…

The Details

Haunted Styled Deadwood Elopement

Keeping the palette minimal and classic, Emily Costopoulos crafted this elegant invitation. The perfect complement to the overall moody feeling, don’t you think?

Oh, the way that golden light sifts through the mist + that darling tulle skirt by Sweet Caroline Styles…it’s ethereal + light, yet has a tough of haunting mystique. (The cemetery setting helps, too!)

The Florals

A blossoming bouquet by Victorias Garden with red and white hues called for some serious TEXTURE. The bare twigs + branches, a symbol of the death and rebirth that happens in winter and spring, are a cool juxtaposition to the liveliness of the blooms.

Sweet Caroline Styles

How sultry is that bodysuit?!

The Bake House cake was all about pushing daisies…pretty clever, right?
